On De Jong...RAG1: Brian Kidd's comments are galling as much as they are irrelevant and I hope the FA do take some action but I have no faith whatsoever they will do so.
De Jong's tackle can in no way be defended,he simply charged in with reckless abandon, mistimed it horribly, didn't remotely 'win' the ball and broke Ben Arfa's leg because of it.
Those City fans and management standing by their man can I just offer an alternative scenarios; what if it had been Joey Barton lunging, carelessly at Adam Johnson? I bet you'd all agree that it was just one of those things and Joey is as honest as the day is long and there is no need for recriminations.
Imagine if it had been an Arsenal player or Rooney out with a twice broken leg?? the FA wouldn't get away with any appeasement but because it's Newcastle and City are now dining at the Premier League's top table I confidently predict nothing will come of Newcastlle plea to them.
RAG2: The FA can make a start on these dirty players. Yes I mean dirty not physical but downright dirty. He, Nigel de Jong was arguably the dirtiest player in the dirtiest team in the world cup. I can remember when Holland was considered the nearest thing to Brazil's total football. But at the last world cup, a disgrace! The FA should ban de Jong for as long as his victim is off injured and the rich Arabs should pay Ben Arfa's wages
RAG3: There is nothing 'hard' about De Jong,he is just a very limited footballer (and I use that term very loosely) who was trying to pathetically do the old, cliched 'enforcer's' tackle on Ben Arfa.
Well it worked because he broke a fellow professional's leg in two places so I am sure he is really proud of himself along with all those myopic Man City fans supporting this neanderthal of football.
Of course there will be no further action taken due to Atkinson's gross incompetence in not even awarding a free kick and he further demonstrated his woefulness by incorrectly calling the two penalty claims.
