What is the point?
33, no pace, lump it fwd, try and head it down.
Honestly, This is one of the most shocking caps of all time, right up there with some of the Graham Taylor caps thrown about.
What the fuck are we going to learn about Kevin Davies when he is 33.
Sturridge, Albrighton, Welbeck, Carroll, would all be far more appropriate. Give them a chance, they might not be the leagues best players yet, but this is a good chance to give them a taste and see how they fit into the squad.

I don't understand why he's there at this stage in his career but I would have had him at the world cup rather than Heskey any day. One of the best at keeping play in the opponents half & creating chances for others. It's not just because of physical strength, he has a good touch & great intelligence; there's a real art to the way he does it. None of our players took the ball from him so easily as they did Drogba for instance. At his age now though, it smacks of desperation from Capello.

TBF, I think its a one off bringing him into the squad as the likes of Agbonlahor and Carroll are injured, so its not like he's blocking the development of a younger striker.
I agree about taking him instead of Heskey to the WC as well.

Gets a shed load of assists for me in Fantasy Football each and every year. Underrated player who should have been ahead of Heskey as the "big guy" for England for many years. Agreed at 33 its a bit pointless now and 6 years to late.

When you look at some of the losers who have worn the Three Lions in the last 10 years or so it's quite surprising that Davies has had to wait so long to get his chance.
I agree with MRM, very underrated player.

just when I was starting to think Fabio had a master plan...this is beyond ridiculous in my opinion
every england fan knows that we've got to blood a new look squad in time for the world cup, yes it will cost us the euros, but we're not going to win it with the likes of a 35 year old davies in the squad

Did you know Kevin Davies has committed the most fouls six out the last seven league seasons? Pretty astonishing.

Is he a sort of white Heskey for Don Fabio? Great respect for the Notlob symbol, but it looks like Prandelli is asking Rolly Bianchi for our Nazionale!

From what I witnessed on Friday night signor Davies wouldn't be a bad addition for the Azzurri!

Considering some of the crap thats been capped by England over the years - Carlton Palmer, Geoff Thomas, John Fashunu, Mel Sterland, Mick Duxbury, Wes Brown et al - I'd summise that he deserves his chance much more than the aforementioned set of shit.

I did actually. And I've been surprised every time I see it. Having said that, he has really nasty streak in him and his elbows are like razorblades.
Davies is a fantastic player for Bolton. No use in international football though as he would get sent off probably every game. As said though, one of the best players around for holding the ball up and delivering it to players around him. Was perfect player for Allardyce's long ball football.

With Rooney playing abysmally this smacks of desperation by Capello imo. Who is going to partner him anyway?
