if there were 5 people that you would pick out as iconic in the history of manchester city f.c who would they be?
The reason im asking is that i wonder if the club would go out of their way to have a like a run of statues on entering the ground of these people? a bit like the statues of egypt kinda thing!!
mine would be
joe mercer
frank swift
colin bell
bert trautman
tony book
malcolm allison

May I include Big Joe Corrigan in that list?

We have an extremely rich history and heritage, yet the club does little or nothing to acknowledge this nor publicise it.
Our battleship grey stadium may be a home from home for our naval Razor but it looks drab and needs brightening up.
I would like to see a time line that rings the ground, starting with 1880, containing the names of our believed founders and acknowledging our 1st recorded game.
Tracing a record of name changes, ground changes and flagging up those seasons where significant events took place, when trophies were won, naming iconic players of the time and recording those people such as Joshua Parlby, Albert Alexander etc who have played major roles in our evolution from the gutters of West Gorton to becomingthe richest club in the World.
I could envisage it containing bronze statues, bronze plaques, ceramics and mosaics. It would be colourful, attractive and interesting. A guided trip round it could be incorporated into the stadium tour.
Any other ideas???

It will probably be best to start a dedicated thread (not started one before so not sure how) - news will break shortly that Bert has passed away this morning.
Whilst not really a surprise the family had been hopeful of him recovering after recent heart issues

I'm nearly as old as John (58) and as far as I'm concerned the Goat ties with Colin Bell as the my no 1 ever city player.
Far too many to put in a list of six though.
