There is a thread of bluemoon which i think is really fitting proposing the club changes the name of City Square to Malcolm Allison Square so that Joe Mercer Way would connect into Malcolm Allison Square.
Anyone else think that is a fitting idea or come up with other ways to celebrate his time with us as i don't think he even has a bar named after him at the minute.

Was just saying on the memorial thread it would be nice to have a bronze of him and Joe in the middle of the square

Brilliant idea imo, though the City square must then be a thing to last for years and years and years. Otherwise the tribute to him must be something else

I honestly believe there should be statues around the ground of Mercer, Allison, Bell, Summerbee Lee and most importantly Anna Connell.
Our club is widely criticised for having no history, yet in comparison with most clubs we have a fascinating and relatively successful record, I hope the club do more to promote this in the near future as I dont want my grandchildren growing up believing that the club was founded in 2008 by Sheikh Mansour.
Also when we see our club win the champions league I would like statues of Bobby Manc and Sheikh Mansour added. (Yes I am assuming they will both still be here)

What better tribute could there be? Sounds perfect and I hope that wheels are already in motion behind the scenes at City to make this happen

Well I guess that's that sorted then, what with two of you on board...
Great idea. Also, good post sandman. Very good post. Not like you at all ;-)

Fantastic idea. Can't see of a more fitting tribute. The statue of Mercer and Big Mal in the middle would be very respectful.
Yes the Sheik and Bobby can have one when we lift the Champions League cup!! (next year!)

I love the idea, though I agree with the poster who said it would have to be a permanent memorial rather than naming something that was temporary.
