He is an unbelievable player....just unreal in terms of talent but also, probably just as important, in terms of application and attitude.

It seems an awfully long time ago that I/we sat waiting for Ishmael Miller/Bradley Wright-Phillips/Kelvin Etuhu/Daniel Sturridge/Ched Evans to be given a run in the team....hoping against hope that we might luck in and find ourselves with a real striking talent.

I still have to pinch myself that we have a player of his standard in a City shirt. Literally, a goal machine.

He's alright. His former ragness still prevents me from loving him wholeheartedly though.

is a god. fact.

i love him like i loved dennis tueart.

carlitos is the best striker i have ever seen for city, with the possible exception of francis lee. tueart was more of a winger/forward, but took every single chance that ever came his way.

What a nightmare he must be to play against. Just when you think you might win the ball he gets another touch to move it away, just when you think you have won the ball he is right back at you winning it back.Plenty of times he has shown the physical power against bigger guys to win a ball he had no right to get.

He isn't a really great finisher but he keeps having a go, so no surprise when the odd one gets a deflection and goes in.He gets in where it hurts too , makes excellent runs and usualy has a top class touch. He simply makes things happen. Add to that he gives his all every game and you have a true world class player.

Talismen.

The straw that stirs the drink as far as City are concerned.

Hopefully Balotelli will step up & get the required goals so that Tevez can be rested, otherwise Mancini will have no option but to keep playing him & even if he stays fit, he can't keep up that level all season in 3 competitions.

What a fantastic player though. If he stays at the club, he'll be an all time legend in a few years time because sooner or later he'll win us stuff.

I worry about the level of expectation building around Balotelli.
Based on what? 25 minutes against a poor and tired defence in a EUFA cup qualifying game. It reminds me of the weird 'idolisation' which built around Valeri Bojinov when we'd barely seen him play due to his injuries.

As for Balotelli - well I did watch him a few times last season for Milan, and while he is clearly a talent, he is also an extremely inconsistent headcase. Given time, patience, and application he could be a world beater - patience being a quality we City fans often lack.

I can't speak for the others but my level of expectation for Balotelli is set up by watching him for Inter in Serie A, and in Europe. I know what he can do, and my only worry is if he can do it consistently enough, if he can then he's gonna be a star for us, no doubt on that. He has everything, pace, strength, vision, can take chances from inside the box and can shoot from a distance, can take penalties and free kicks, he's decent enough in the air, he can dribble and set up others to score. He's as talented as they come, as I said the only (big) question mark is about his consistency, but I'm sure Mancini can make him perform, after all it was him who gave the lad his debut at Inter and those with Mancini were his best seasons so far.

Personally I think on pure natural ability...Balo is going to be the best signing we have ever made

To compare him to Boj is like comparing Maradonna to Robbie Savage

I wasn't comparing him as a player to Boj. Just that our 'appreciation' of him seems to be stretched way beyond what he's actually achieved so far.

As I said, he's an obvious talent .......... but I fear some of you may be building him up in your minds way too much.
