Rags downward spiral

Cracks are really starting to show at the club.No way would this weeks episode have happened in years gone by.Ferguson would never stand for the public humiliation United took during the week.
Rooneys statement served up to the nation what we have all been feeling about them for quite some time.Describing them as unambitious, wanting to leave to win trophies and unsure of the clubs continued ability to attract top players.Honestly you could not make it up the stuff was music to my ears i could not have put it better myself.
It's a hugely embarassing situation for United being called for what they are by the clubs prized asset. The most worrying thing for the rags is that never before has Ferguson accepted such a publiic dressing down of the club. His attitude to this sort of behaviour would have seen Rooney out on his ear.In the past he has got shot of key players such as Stam, Keane , Beckham and Rudd without hesitation yet Rooney is rewarded its a sure sign of how the times have changed. Before they could afford to loose a player of high quality and not suffer but losing Rooney now they could not cope with.

No matter that Rooney has signed a new contract, the lid has been lifted. It certainly appears that the whole sorry lot is coming apart. It's been good to see.

Sorry mate, can't agree with that.
I'm sure that everyone on here primarily is concerned with City.
as a secondary item, whatever shit befalls the rags is valid.
We've spent too many years listening to their shit about liddle ciddy not to enjoy their downfall.

Somebody on ragcafe got it right, spot on in fact.
Some of you are not worthy to call yourselves Manchester United supporters( yes, I'm looking at you, Rooney apologists).
That fat scouse **** has just had your great club and renowned manager over the barrel, publicly humiliated you all by claiming MU isn't ambitious enough for him and he wants out, only to backtrack few days later with a fake PR scripted apology after getting a big pay raise. All that after showing an indifferent form on the pitch for months and putting the club's name through the mud in the wake of his private indiscretions scandal.
There's no moral victory here for the club, even if they managed to avoid the disaster from the business point of view. Rooney just proved to everyone out there that he could do what no one before was able to pull: publicly disrespect MU and SAF and not only get away with it, but get rewarded in the end. Rooney demonstrated that no matter how much of an ungrateful **** he is as a person, as a player he's so valuable to the current United side, they simply couldn't afford to stick to the principles and boot his fat ass out for fear of immediate consequences in terms of weakening the squad and losing their best player for peanuts.
Times do change. There's no way Fergie would have swallowed that in the past. Remember the boot flying at Beckham's head, Keane and RVN being shown the door when forgetting their place, etc? A couple of days ago when the news just broke many here said "no player is bigger than the club, jog off, United forever, etc etc." Well, Rooney just proved you all wrong, which to me represents a sad state of affairs in modern professional sport.
Ian Holloway, who's being made to look foolish now with his outburst, at least had the balls to tell it like it is without sugarcoating the truth. That's a man of integrity for you, deserves respect for his honesty.

All great to watch.
Those of us of a certain age will remember what happened to the evil ones once Busby retired. They went down and down, from one manager to the next, went broke and eventually got relegated. And George Best was off on the piss when he should've been at the peak of his career.
History is about to repeat itself!

I remember they had a succession of managers so long it almost eclipsed
us ;-)
As for history repeating? one can only hope, sit back, and watch the pantomime unfold.
One idea which is growing in my head is that no way does Ferguson have the type of personality to forgive Rooney easily - I predict a shouting match.

History repeating itself ?? Fuck me pink, I'm all for that. But don't equate our rise with their demise.

But it just could be our rise that sends them out of the top 2, 3 or even 4 this year or next. That will increase their desperation and paranoia, lower revenues and off we go. And we pinched Tevez off them, which directly affects them, and have - albeit indirectly - played a major part in this week's monumental fuck-up which has ended up costing the evils another 2 or 3 million a year in wages to Shrek that they cant afford.
Without our Sheik intervening they could stagger on in the top 4 for years.
I think we ought to take some credit!

...........In fact, with the very real possibility of them losing at Stoke, Spuds getting at least a point at home and West Brom beating Fulham, they could be 6th by the end of the weekend.
Taggart out!

As I said to the rags at work, I'm going to sit back and relax and no doubt what happens at the end of the season will not be anything like the end of the previous 15 seasons.
Should be a great season this.

They must have told Rooney they're going to spend money. Therefore, money which they hoped to spend on the debt or keep in case of emergency (no Chump's Lg etc) must now be spent or Rooney must be sold. All piles the shit on higher & makes the fall bigger when it comes.
I recon they may have a desperation fund for Mourinho to spend when he takes over & may now have to spend it earlier than planned.

I know he's always saying nice things about the club, but am I the only one that can't see Mourinho giong to the scum? Especially with the Glazers still pulling the strings, and there aint that many mental billionaires out there to my knowledge.
Odds on its bulbous eyes IMO.
