Posted: Sat Oct 30, 2010 8:56 pmDIdn't know much about him so was just having a read up, and found this about his time as manager at Wigan in the playoff final vs Gillingham in 2000
Never realised Gillingham went up in a similarly last gasp manner the season after we did, and never remembered benson as having been Wigan's manager at the time, having got the job as a direct result of us beating Wigan in the 99 playoffs.
Towards the end of the season Wigan lost their form and found themselves losing in the play-off final at Wembley against Gillingham in a 3-2 defeat after being 2-1 up with only 7 minutes of extra time remaining.
