Micah Richards ?

Postby Green & Blue » Sun Oct 31, 2010 1:25 pm

Just can't make up my mind on him.

He played really well against Arsenal and it was very positive to hear him speak about finding focus again and the influence Vieira was having on him.

After yesterday im just not sure he's capable no matter how much he wants it, he put in a now all to familiar performance and was completely had by Jarvis it was a really really dire performance. To say he was lacking concentration is an understatement he was skint regularly his marking was almost non existent and he got dragged all over the place at times.Just a terrible game from him but this has happened so many times now im just not sure hes ever going to fulfill his potential.

When he broke into the team he looked immense and quite rightly got rewarded with an england call up, but over the last two years i have seen no improvement if anything his weaknesses have been exposed and i can't honestly see any improvement in his game.

Bear in mind he got a total lack of defensive support from Yaya and Wolves put 3 players on the 2 of them and ran rings round them from the point we went ahead. At some points Wolves put 4 players down that side. Not all Micah's fault methinks.

maybe, but why were wolves putting so many players down that side?

I think that is quite obvious, they saw that side as a weakness and have a couple of decent players to exploit it. Yaya doesn't have a great deal of pace until he gets his bulk going. Go at us with 2 players and another to cover and interplay with, lose Yaya at the outset and Micah is left trying to cope with the mess and two players. They tried it, it worked so they kept doing it and realised Yaya was easy to bypass and we had no answer. Others of our players realised it and came flying over to try and help out.

The fact that we played so narrow in the middle didn't help him atall. He was getting no cover whatsoever which meant he was taking a gamble on which way the likes of Jarvis were going to go. Inevitably, due to his size, once sent the wrong way he found it hard to adjust. Most of the lads could see it in the pub, so I don't know how they couldn't at the game.

well other teams help out their full back when he is up against a top player its called double ing up but anyone decide to help micah no they just left the poor lad on his own. Jarvis is nearly as good as AJ so you have to cut micah some slack...

Jarvis plays on that side. If he played on the other side Boateng would probably have needed councelling after the game. Micah was the only defender who really had a direct quality threat up against him. The rest had mostly fuck all to do but still did it terribly & cost us 2 goals by being half asleep. Best defender on the day imo as he was the only one who did any defending.

First one was a lucky deflection and Kompany was ball watching.

Second was Kolo's horrific choices not once, but twice in clearing the ball.

Result, thread about the resident booboy Richards.

Quality.

A fair observation Slim, The wolves goals were gifted to them.

Wasn't Richards' fault at all, it was Mancini's - he failed to prepare for the inevitable threat we were going to face from both wings and the fullbacks were on their own mainly, particularly on the right.

I thought Micah was ok to be fair. Jarvis was their sole threat really and Micah got ZERO help.

He's had some shit games in the last 2 years, but lets not sit waiting for a fuckup hey lads?

I agree with you more often than not but that's just bullshit. Micah was taken for a ride by Jarvis over and over again. Liability in this tea,.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think you misunderstand my point. I am not saying he had a good game, in fact I think there was only 2-3 players who had an average to good performance. My point was that there were absolute glaring errors by two senior defenders that resulted in goals and yet people choose to focus on the easy target when he wasn't any worse than other players who were up against less quality opposition.

The amount of times I screamed "FOR FUCKS SAKE MICAH, STOP GETTING TURNED" at the telly was getting to the point where I should have just recorded that and hit play whenever Jarvis got the ball. However, vilifying him over others is just wrong.

Jarvis tore Micah a new hole, but then again he did Rafael and he gave Cashley the fucking run around, so I think we can cut the guy a bit of slack personally, there were quite a few shocking performers out there.
