Johnson on the left.

Not George Best but did well at times & City created most of the few chances when he was there. Put in two good crosses which both should have been goals, more than he's done all season from the other side.

Johnson on the right; waste of fucking space & handed the initiative to Poznan, which they duly took.

If he plays there more, he may learn to deliver more quality more often imo.

Im sick of saying it but it never fucking changes, if he plays on the right he has to work 20 x harder to create than if he plays in his natural position on the left. Same goes for barry or milner when they get played on the left wing!

Playing zabba in defensive midfield is a joke of epic proportions! he is a right back, just because he has a good engine and loves to get stuck in dont make him a defensive midfielder you need to be aware of positioning across the middle and him and PV got caught out all night.

Why the fuck he wont play 4-4-2 ill never know

Mancini to me is just trying to copy mourinho on tactics but has nothing in common with him.

The fact that you are wanting 4-4-2 says it all. That formation is dead for successful sides.

When we have big name players out and injuries i think it makes sense. Dont forget we was playing poznan.

And what about for unsuccessful sides?

I'm not too sure, we don't have an out and out (decent) right winger, where would Silva play for instance?

With regards to Johnson, whether he plays on the left or right he needs to contribute more than he is doing.

Johnson assists this season - 0
Milner assists this season - 4

That should read 2 after tonight tbf. Chances don't often come easier than the two he created.

True but in other games this season he has chose the wrong option far to many times, the majority of them being selfish.

Play milner on the right wing he can deliver world class deliveries. Ok he aint like johnson but they can both deliver great balls, silva would play just off ade in the hole?

Yes he has been selfish because thats what happenes when you play on the right wing as a left footer mate you come inside to shoot, to deliver a good cross you need to get to the touchline not coming back to cross it in.

I've been moaning about it all season, but tonight he put in balls for 2 certain goals. If he does that every game then I'll never complain about the rest of the 90 mins being shit, as he's done his job.

I don't see any problem with AJ playing on the right as long as the balance is NOT SWP on the left. AJ can play either side and do it well but SWP is just incapable of playing a wide left role

Transfer-window recruit Johnson made an eyebrow-raising debut on the right against Bolton despite being a natural left winger and is in the vanguard of a growing trend in England.

Charles N'Zogbia of Wigan, Damien Duff of Fulham and, ironically for Adam, former team-mate Stewart Downing of Aston Villa are among those also benefiting from a switch of flanks.

Johnson said: "It works. I like playing out there on the right, and if you look at the top wingers in the world, I think they can all play on opposite sides.

"I played there at Boro now and again - more so when Stewie (Downing) was there. I learned a lot playing on the right because Stewie would be on the left all the time."

"I enjoy it just as much as playing on the left now. You have the option of cutting in and you can maybe go for goal, it mixes your game up a bit more"

"Obviously the manager has worked with a lot of top-class players and he's seen what effect it can have. He likes doing it that way and it works in our favour."
