Hoddle was saying last night how reserve bookings used to count for the 1st team, so managers used to put players in reserve games just to get them booked & suspended for shit matches coming up so they'd be available for important ones that followed.

Nothing to learn from there unless it's about cheating. UEFA or whoever should take the special step of banning them both for the first knock out game and see how they react to that.

With all due respect gents, I disagree completely.

The rules are there for everyone and Real have just taken advantgae of them. Call this unsportmanlike, call it a reward for qualifying so early, call it what you like. But it is not cheating.

I am not saying that the rules should not be reviewed. Of course they should. But all Real have done is exploited a loophole which should've been tightened a long time ago.

it's a far stretch better than kicking someone and potentially injuring them to earn the card as well...it made them both look like twats, but...look, if they win the CL those two guys will have to be on the pitch that's for sure. Am i bovvered?

cheers

Isn't unsportsmanlike conduct against the rules? It's very cynical and I don't condone it.
Btw, I thought all cards were swiped before the knock-out stage ... I guess I've must've gotten that wrong.

Does anyone know if Ramos normally takes the goal kicks? As that would be a dead give-a-way as to any planning for that.

I would think there are a couple of ways they can levy further punishment against Real.
-intentional dismissal.
-bringing the game into disrepute.

Won't happen though, Jose has played the rules like a fiddle.

You're never too old to learn Doug, and we can all learn something about Jose as well from that little episode.

We didn't learn anything about Jose we didn't already know!

I think Slims 2nd point is the apppopriate one , bringing the game into disrepute.

Strange, I always thought that yellow cards were started over once they got to the knockout stage, can anyone confirm?

If that is the case, wouldn't just not playing them in the next and final round been good enough?

Hoddle was a law unto himself. His interpretation of a lot of things both in and out of football were bizarre to say the least.

I don't really think there's a problem with this. They didn't break any rules; I thought it was kind of smart.

Real and Mourinho at their arrogant worst - they know UEFA will cock suck them all the way to the final - they should be made an example of - a total embarrassment to European football

i like mourinho and real were class last night but this is disgraceful. the rules should be changed so that once a team is through they either get rewarded for getting through early on and their previous cards wiped, or as they go through, cards don't count until the knockout stages. cheating.
