So the Queen is in Abu Dhabi

Can someone clear Sheikh Mansour's lineage up for me. Never really got my head round it.
Is our Sheikh the equivalent of Prince Charles, Prince Edward, William, Harry or some further out cousin in terms of his lineage to the Sheikh who welcomed the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to Adu Dhadi, earlier today?

Apols if it has been done but I never really worked it out.

He's more of a Prince Edward position than a Prince Charles I think. There's a Crown Prince & it aint him.

I don't know about the lineage but the Sheikh certainly holds more power than our Royal Family can ever hope to achieve. They might be head of state but Parliament holds all the cards!

'He is the half brother of the current President of UAE, Emir (ruler) of Abu Dhabi, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Outside of the Emirates, he is most popularly known as the owner of Manchester City Football Club'.

Whahaay!

lineages of Royal Families in the Arab nations seem a bit more complex than the British one.

It'd be more apt to describe him as the Phil Mitchell of Abu Dhabi.

No. Well not yet anyway. The Crown Prince is the ruling monarch. So Sheikh Mansour is Princess Margaret but not dead. Same as Andrew will be if/when Charles is King and Harry will be if/when William is King.

You get the prize Ted ! Others got close. He is more like Prince Edward except that Sheikh Khalifa, the current Ruler (not called Emir) of Abu Dhabi is his older brother and not his father.
Abu Dhabi is the biggest and richest of 7 Emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates which is a Federal Union. Dubai comes in at no. 2.
The Ruler of each Emirate is an inherited post and the succession rules are not set in stone as they are in the U.K. and other monarchies. For instance current Ruler of AD inherited the post from his father, Sheikh Zayed but has appointed his younger brother Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed as his Crown Prince !
At the same time Sheikh Khalifa is the President of the UAE which is a political post and is elected/chosen by the 7 Rulers of the 7 Emirates.
Our Sheikh Mansour is a brother of Sheikh Khalifa and also Deputy Prime Minister in the Federal Cabinet. The PM is the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid more famous in sporting circles for Horse Racing as opposed to footbal with our Sheikh.
Hope that clears it up ?
