5-1 against the rags September 89..paid £50 for a ticket from a tout outside..was gutted..was a lot of money to me as a 16 year old but after the game I wanted to find him and kiss him..the atmosphere was hostile..I remember we threw an inflatable plane into the away end and they ripped it apart with their teeth..unbelievable day on the kippax

EDIT: Sorry..just seen this was for the old guy..DOH!

Gillie Mate,
If you mean personally attended, it can't be any other than the final league game of '68, when we became champions at Newcastle and I would seriously give my right arm, bollock or leg to have some of you younger City fans have that same experience.
I wrote quite emotionally about this game in that championship series (if someone wants to dig it out).
from travelling up the motorway and have almost every car passing you exhibiting sky blue. The singing and dancing at the Hartshead Moor services, the swarms of city fans walking through Newcastle to the ground.
The nerves because so much was at stake. Remembering that we could only lose it to the rags.
The game itself was the ultimate rollercoaster...1-0...Then they equalised minutes later....2-1...then they equalised again a few minutes later....3-2...4-2....We were Champions but were frightened to admit it...They scored again 4-3 and we were shitting it.
At the final whistle, the sheer relief and the explosion of emotion and the knowledge that City were the best team in the country.

The thing is, knowing how that feels, I want to feel it again...soon....and I reeeeeallly want you to feel it too.

Can anyone join in on this post, or is there an exclusivity order and only John can post?

Btw, that was definitely one of the best games I have been to IBH, not the best for me but right up there.

As an aside IBH, that must have been some inflatable plane because the shit were in the platt lane and it was a good 30/40 yards from the City end, taking segragation into account.

Get in there Edgeley..and anyone else....lets get emotional and misty eyed for a change.

We have a great past...let's enjoy it.

...and as much as we analyse and criticise on here about this strategy and that strategy, or whether Bobby Manc is as good as Hughes, Let's not lose sight of the fact that despite our ups and downs, we are still well in touch with the top place. We have shown what we are capable of and we are not that far away....LET'S NOT FORGET TO ENJOY WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW.

Fuck it, the premise of this thread is shot so I'll jump in as well.

Only been to two City games; the Inter friendly this July is obviously out, so 1:13:26 into this video (thanks Bridge'srightfoot) was my one moment of personal City glory. Witnessed Maine Road that day in all its panoply from the Main Stand, a memory I will never, ever forget.

Proceeded to wander around Manchester that night in colours like the naive twat I was, and was never bothered till a bouncer turned us away. Proof Manchester is blue (still got shit scared at my error and went back to the hotel to change, mind).

Having drawn twice with Norwich in the League Cup run of 1976 we had to play them in a second replay at Stamford Bridge.
About 12,000 of us made the journey and we stuffed them 6-0 in a great performance. Shouted myself into a stupor.

I was in the top left hand corner of the Kippax if you were looking at the pitch...they away support was seperated by that fence and gap...I'm not sure how that came about...only thing I can think of...as my memory is hazy...is that either we had a temporary stand between the Platt Lane and The Kippax or they had a small section of the Kippax themselves...but they were that close

That's one game I wish I'd been at. I remember John Bond had been slagging Bell & Marsh, then after that he said they were the best 2 players in the world!

Both the rags game & the Semi 2nd leg v Boro in that cup run, rank amongst my favourite games. The atmos v Boro was incredible.

City - Norwich 2-1, October 1996

My first ever City game in Maine Road. Had just turned 18 so I could travel on my own and had been working all summer on a construction site to earn the money. It was worth every penny and more. I was simply in awe.

Ewood park for me, 1995, won 3-2 in the pissing rain. Remember we had 2 goals dissalowed in the second half but we celebrated them so much we only realised they didn't count about 5 minutes after each one!

This win took us clear of relegation and was such a massive 3 points at the time.
Plus Blackburn eventualy won the title which was also great!

There are many.
My first games at Maine Road were at the end of
1984/5 season. First I went to was vs. Sheffield U****d. Kenny Clements scored two pearlers and we won 2-0. then I saw a tense 0-0 against Oldham and Andy May was sent off. The referee that day was a Mr Peter Willis who also famously sent off Kevin Moran for the rags in that years cup final - the first ever sending off in an FA cuP final. He had a pie thrown at his head in the tunnel at half time and had to have a police escort from th ground aftr the match! The third and probably most memorable game I saw was the final home game of that season against Charlton. We had to win to guarantee promotion they put a rookie in goal for that match. There were officially over 49000 cranks intO Maine Rd that afternoon, although judging by the number who had to scale the stantions in the Kippax to get view thre were probably more. Any way. Great atmosphere and my first realm it game. We won 5-1.

Wins against the rags are obviously up there, but as I was only 16 at the Time I'd ate that match against Chalton as my best ever.
