City...

in the US and A.
i was in the Dallas airport this afternoon and i had three conversations within 45 minutes on a layover about City...as i wore my Tevez top -- third strip, since you asked -- which makes me realize how much of an impact we're having...
first one was with a fan of the rags which went something like
" City fan, eh?" says the rag fan.
"Yep..i am." i reply.
"i support United" he says, pointing to his filth hoody -- he's american, natch.
"great" i say.
"heard about the fight with Tevez this weekend and the pushing and stuff." he says
"it was nothing. He's an amazing player. You never should have let him go, yknow?" i say.
"i know. i love him. i wish we still had him" he responds.
"well, good luck" i say...and he says the same and goes on his way.
then i learn about a 45 minute flight delay so i head into some airport cantina and order a beer and the first thing the barman says to me is "City fan, huh?" Turns out he is looking for a team to support in the Prem and he is really getting into football and plays exclusively with City on FIFA 11 and loves it. We talk for about 30 minutes about footy and he agrees he should probably start supporting City and following them. It's mostly Tevez that impresses him from watching the Argies in the WC, and, like me years ago, he's kinda bored of American sports...etc.
Then i leave the bar and head into the line to board my plane and a mid-50s woman comes over to me and says "It's really great to see a City fan." to which i say "wow..great...do you support them?" turns out she does and her husband is a Manc-born City fan for life and they will be over for a match in a couple weeks. Her excitement about seeing me in a City top is really sweet and endearing.
i love City...did i mention that?
cheers
