Who has a future at city?

We have spent a few years in transition and bought a lot of players to raise the quality of the side to the point it is now.

Bearing in mind that......

We should find it easier to attract the big names in future

Sheik Mansours ambition

But also the new financial restrictions

Who do you think are future of Manchester City as we progress, irresistibly, to become undisputed league champions of the world!?

I have limited the options to 8, but you don't have to use them all

Hart
Kolarov
Kompany
De Jong
Zabaleta
Silva
Y Toure
Tevez

EDIT...you missed him off your list Patrick but I'd swap Balotelli for Zabaleta if he were there

The above are selected in some cases due to being as close to nailed on starters as possible and others as they have the quality (but more importantly the team/squad ethic) to play a part which might not be always in the first xi starting matches.

The likes of Kolo Toure, Adam Johnson, Shay Given, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gareth Barry will be off at some point if they ever find themselves not getting (or continuing not to get) game time.

Question marks are against the quality, or more to the point the consistent delivery of the required level of quality mean that the likes of James Milner, Micah Richards, Nedum Onuoha, Jerome Boateng, Michael Johnson, Joleon Lescott, Jo may or may not have a part to play. Depends on how they continue to develop at City and whether, during this development, they are tempted away in periods where they are not playing and are clearly able to do a good job for other clubs

Jury has not reached a verdict on the manager for me as yet

Note the omission of Tevez...I genuinely don't think he will be around that long

Should be who doesnt have a future at city because most of the current starting 11 are good enough and most of the cover is good enough.

The likes of SWP, Roque, Jo, MJ, Bridge, Vieira arent good enough and then theres shay who doesnt have a future just because joe is on the same level and alot younger and ade who doesnt have a future because he is a fucking lazy smiley mongaloid.

Toure will need replacing at some point but lescott or richards could both step up into that spot though.
Milner wont be good enough for CL but is worth having in the squad. Same goes for zabs.
The youngsters only time will tell, not seen much of any, boyata is the most prominent but still if were going for trophies then every game is important and we dont really have many games we can just stick the youngsters out and see what happens.

Mancini will be our manager for aaages if he gets us CL this year which is looking likely and that can only be agood thing.

8 is defo not enough, also i take a more positive angle than a lot so am expecting quite a few to be still around. Together with the new financial rules, that restrict clearouts etc.
Another angle on this question is that it is too soon.. as we are only just getting our act together and as we have seen players step it up and work better together making them appear better too. Players who came in over the summer we can't really judge until at least the end of the season imo. Also a lot may depend on how well the group does, if we continue to improve and up the levels then the weak links will be the inconsistent players not necessarily the weakest individual players. Some players who can be relied upon even when they are not getting every game are worth their weight in gold.
If we do something crazy like win the fuclin title then there is an argument for keeping the core of the squad intact.
If we are talking in three years time then i think a lot depends on the success. Too many ifs, but say we take the title, we will then expect to go into the CL the next season and to go all the way. The sensible response to that would be keep the core of the team intact and try to add the best available where we are weakest.

At the mo it is easier to say who wont be here come August.

Given
Bridge
SWP
Adebayor
RSC

The rest could yet make it to next season and beyond imo.

Why is it limited to 8?

I wanted to restrict it so that people would have to make difficult decisions, and thus I hoped we would get a clearer picture of those who are the backbone, the ones that really do step up to the plate rather than the ones who could should would.

Everyones suggestions are good, if you want a different angle start a new thread, this is up to 8 and it's too late to change it

I see what the Aussies mean now......

Just out of interest would you have included Zabba in this at the start of the season? What i mean is based on his form last season.

No, i suppose thats why i asked, so his inclusion is based on current form and his improvement. If anything that is likely to push others on.
Another one people will be keeping their eyes on is Yaya, he has had some stormers and some games where he disappears. Will that pattern change, will he gain some consistency? otherwise he would be another doubtful.
There is certainly going to be a plenty for a right good natter on this whole subject come the end of the season.
