Contracts

Postby Lee_R » Sun Dec 12, 2010 11:29 am

Sorry to start a new thread but in light of all this Tevez bollocks its just got me wondering. We all know contracts are contracts but come on.. theyre often not deemed to be worth the paper they're written on so.. I was wondering. IF a player just decided to be a Tevez.. (a cunt) and just walk away and not honour the contract what could the club do? I know there would be financial issues, but could the player actually pay them if its such a high amount etc???

You could sue for breach of contract for a start, like Chelsea did to Mutu. As Herman is worth about £50m, he'd be living on the streets in no time. We'd still hold his registration, so he couldn't play for anyone else either, so basically he'd be fucked.

Actually, that's cheered me up a bit.

I think the problem then becomes with the club's reputation as an employer. Players may not want to come to a place they would be weary of leaving.

Hang on, hang on, Tevez so far hasn't refused to play or done anything he's not allowed to. He's REQUESTED a move. We've said no. He can play on under those conditions for the rest of his contract if he wishes. It's only if he refuses to play, that any sanctions apply.

Players don't expect clubs to allow them to down tools whenever they feel like it. I don't think it would be an issue as far as future signings are concerned. It wouldn't make sense for either side for that situation to arise anyhow. Both would lose money & waste time.
