Training Saturday 18/12

Not expecting anything today I was pleasantly surprised to find one of the undersoil heated pitches being prepared for use.The other was under 4 inches of snow. Watching some of the players arriving had it's entertainment as a procession of 4 cars were held up near the players car park by a taxi doing a u turn. Then when Boyata tried to move on all he could manage was wheel spin so needed a few helping hands to push him on.Tevez, in his tank, just sat and waited.
The only problem was getting the tarpaulin of the pitch.Half was already off and a tractor was running up and down the other clearing snow and ice ,before it was peeled off. Then it started snowing again so it was all turning white quickly after the snow had been removed. With help from Kidd and some physios and the keepers using shovels for their area it all got shifted by around noon.
Just a few snowball fights as the players came out and some used the fences to hide behind and ambush unsuspecting teammates. Kolarov definitely looking at home and very mischievous whilst Silva just looked cold.Mancini did the usual teamtalk before they split into two grooups for the early warm up.It appeared Mancini took the group likely to be Monday's team although if it is surprised me a little.
I couldnt stay very long today as it all got so delayed but I think Ade was still missing and I didn't see Jo or Lescott out today but apart from that I think all were out. That included Assulin who was the passenger in the taxi earlier and no I didn't see any of him in practice to make any comment.

Taxi hunh. Hope that isn't a future foreboding of the Israeli wonder's career. Thanks Doug.

Well done for getting out there at all Doug. Thanks for the report.
I wonder how much of this weather Silva can take before he starts going Tevez.

So the game will probably be called off as well then? Credit to you for braving the conditions mate.

Don't worry Saul. different brain there.

Plenty of time to enjoy the life at Canaries, then...

Mostly depends on the condition of the roads surrounding the CoMS.
If the blanket of snow turns to ice then the game is likely to be sacked but the pitch should certainly be playable due to undersoil heating.
Police often recommend what action to take.

It'll prolly be decided on Monday. Just checked the weather on a couple of sites but both were giving conflicting reports.
In short..........fuck knows.

The fact that our opponents are fairly local means that the game will be given every chance to take place.
In other games where away fans have to travel for many miles to get to the ground the game is called off a bit prematurely to save the hassle of wasted journies.
If the game goes ahead it would certainly be in our favour as we have a chance to hit the top of the league and avoid a fixture jam later on in the season.

Very true and I'm sure the club will do everything in their power to make sure it goes ahead. No way will they let the chance of being top of the league at Xmas slip just because of a little snow, especially seeing as it'd be the 1st time for 80 odd year's.
I'll stick a snow-plough on the front of my car if needed, I want to see this game.

Thanks Doug well done for getting out there.
Good to hear all the first team regulars out and fit.
Apart from deJong we should be at full strength for Monday, assuming it goes ahead.

Lewis , how the hell are you? Nothing has changed except the one in the middle of the 2 pitches with undersoil heating have been taken down. Problems with the pipes underneath getting punctured I hear.
