I saw in the paper this morning that it was minus 9 at Eastlands last night but it wasn't the coldest I have ever felt at a match.

That was on 04 Jan 1986 away at Walsall in the cup. The City fans were on an open terrace behind the goal and it snowed throughout the match. I have no idea what the temperature was but I have never been that cold before or since!

Middlesbrough in the cup last season. my feet and head hurt all day long. Horrible.

Stats wise, last night.

"Real Feel" cold would be Stoke Away a couple of years ago. The wind was blowing very strongly through the holes between the stands and my face was burning as I was in its direct path.

A close second has to be Middlesborough Away in the FA Cup the other year. Snowing hard and very cold. I didn't have thick socks on and couldn't feel me feet at all, turned out to be a bonus in the end as I had to stand up all the way back to Manchester on the train!

I froze my balls off last Xmas at Molyneux.....I'm sure that Uwe's Duvet, BiB, MHiggi and FrozenFlapsFu can attest to the chill factor

I remember freezing my arse off after laughing off suggestions I couldn't go to the match in t shirt and shorts in Jan 06.

Still Im well hard.

I remember that like it was yesterday, there were a few of us that day and we didn't thaw out until February. Can't remember the game or the score as i was spending my whole time trying to keep warm as i thought i was going to die. Just having a Pierre Cardin t-shirt on with a Tachini tracksuit top didn't help things. I looked the dogs though.
Oldham away in the 80's springs to mind as well but i think that day it just pissed down on us non-stop rather than it being exceptionally cold.

Blackburn away a few seasons ago could also be a contender. I think that was the night when the fast version of Blue Moon was born. There weren't many Blues there but those that were spent the entire match singing and dancing to try and keep warm!

On our way back to the car we saw some City fans pissing on a car door, i presume they were trying to defrost it!

Copenhagen in the waffa cup a couple of years ago, that was ferking freezing, mind you it didnt help that I brought innappropiate clothing. Cost me a fortune that trip and only warmed when I purchased a beautiful 6 foot lady for the night.

That Oldham game a few years ago was cold, but like Fish says it was pissing down all game. They didnt have a roof, and the wind was blowing, when I got home from that I thought I had trench foot.

I didnt feel as cold as I thought last night (thought the Strasbourg game was colder), mind you I looked like the friggin michelin man with all the gear I had on.

I seem to remember a game against Sunderland in 81 (Francis bagged a couple) that was so cold I forsaked my usual bag of Smax for a bovril and I don't even like the stuff. Proper brass monkeys.

There's been lots of icy cold games in the past but none have frozen the top of a pint like it did last night.

It was pretty cold yeah. However that isn't even nearly the coldest game I've been to. Went to see Finland play Northern Ireland some time in early-90's with my dad. It was similar winter to this one and in march they had frozen pitch with no undersoil heating in NI (Windsor Park?) so they ended up switching the games so that the game would be played in Helsinki and next meeting would be in Northern Ireland in june or something like that. Anyway, it must've been close to -20 and it was bloody horrible. Think the game was dull meaningless draw as well. Probably the only time ever I left a live football game thinking "why bother".

two spring to mind are Oldham away in the 90's - snow, ice and Boundary Park, not a great combination. There was a bald guy a few rows in front that was wearing a t-shirt and gloves, total madness

the Ipswich game that was called off was nasty, car park was underwater, as we were walking to the ground the sleet was coming at us horizonally, was stood in a phone box for 10 minutes. sat freezing in the top corner of the main stand, feet were blocks of ice, just summed it up when the called it off.

A match against Bolton at Maine Road, around 1966ish ......... stood in the old scoreboard end (uncovered) in blizzard conditions and about minus 10 C with strong winds. I was like a fucking snowman at the end ............. and we lost 4-2 to a Freddie Hill hat trick.

this, never drank as much coffee before and during game to try to keep warm. oh and a few tots of whisky did help a little

I seemed to remember it being freezing for an away match at Derby back in 1989. That could have been down to my flu/hangover or the fact we got stuffed 6-0

Where I grew up we had a rule that outdoor sports were called off if it was below -15.
I've played football in -15 plenty of times, but I much rather do that then watching it. At least you keep fairly warm when moving around. Heading the ball is a big no-no, though. It's like ramming your head at a brick wall.

sunderland this time last year was fucking baltic.

it was around 90 degrees out.

much colder than the Philadelphia Union game i went to the following week, where it was closer to 100.

I was there too. The penalty we did not get, right in front of us...the ref placed the ball on virgin snow with paul power pointing out the scuffed snow inside the box. And steve daley getting abuse before he was subbed. He had the last laugh as I believe we were still paying him off...!

Coldest...Sunderland home last year. Ice!

Juve last week was a bit fresh, minus 13 I was told by our receptionist the following morning.
