Great bloke, IMO. One of our saviours in recent years and I would have like to have seen him chairman for a few years more.
I suspect if he had have been, we would never have been in the mess we were in before the takeover.

Good appointment for the us and the FA.

Can we expect not bent refereeing for us from now on then? I'm not asking for favours, just for fairness.

Didn't Peter Swales used to be FA Chairman too?

I don't think he made Chairman but I'm sure he was on all the committee's.

Think we will finally get our rub of green.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think Swales was chairman of the International Committee that chose the England manager.

Bernstein looks a good choice. Let's hope he can keep Platini at bay.

Swales was one of the main men behind the fantastic appointment of Graham Taylor as England manager thus having a similar effect on England as he did on City.

Just been on SSN and came across very well, as usual. When asked if he would have the decision on Fabio's future, he said it wasn't down to him, but he would be part of the committee who would discuss it.

What I wanted to know was, why would they need to discuss it if his job is secure until the end of his contract; what gives?

He still loves City. He's a professional so he will try to hide it but he'll be happy inside when he hands the FA Cup to captain Vincent Kompany in May.

Have to say I'm surprised. David Bernstein has far too much integrity for the FA.

This.

Although he's a Spurs season ticket holder, so I doubt his loyalties lie fully with us.

I think I once read that Swales was the main man behind Brian Clough never getting the chance to manage England. Apparently thought that Clough wouldn't obey the people above him. Was probably right as well. Most of his managerial choices for us went the same way. He always chose some lapdog of his over better candidates.
