Mancini's first year

Mancini has been City manager for just over a year now since 19 December 2009. Overall I think he is doing a very good job and am convinced come May he will have led us into the top 4 and perhaps even a trophy.

The defending as a team and a back four has been so improved since he took over and I think we are getting there going forward and it is only a matter of time before a few teams get a hammering from us.

2010-11 LEAGUE:

P: 18; W: 9; D: 5; L: 4.

2009-10 LEAGUE:

P: 21; W: 11; D: 5; L: 5.

As far as league record goes that's very good considering circumstances. Sure there's some room for improvement still but for me we are very much on course to where we want to be in future.

Mancini's approach to Cup's can be seen from that record and there's definite need for improvement there.

Overall though, I championed Mancini to be good manager for us and certainly seems that he has taken us forward.

he's done really well so far with his transfer choices imo
Everton game aside, we've got a really strong defensive unit
Handled the tevez situation with aplomb - it was all going tits up until he got involved.
Handling Mario and Johnno well in my opinion although others seem to disagree, both will end up being better players if they listen to their boss

ok so the football has been fairly unappatising at times and he makes some odd decisions during games, but I do think he's got what it takes to move us forward and win us some silverware

I liked him from the moment he took over ............ then I had a period where I started having serious misgivings.

Typically enough, as soon as I voiced those misgivings he totally transformed things to the point where I'm more than happy to eat humble pie (tastes quite good with clotted cream on actually).

So well done Bobby, keep it up and we can only get better.

I think it's more about what he does next than where we are now. It seems to me like he's got everything set up for us to push on over the next year or so. Everton showed that we still have problems beneath the surface but we've made a natural progression from last season & are about where we would expect to be; with a good chance of top 4 & an outside shot at the title.

Although most of his signings bar Silva look pretty shit on performances (& attitude!) so far, I think most of them will come good over the next year or so & above 50% of them will turn out to be regulars which is decent transfer gambling.

If I was marking him I'd give him about 7 or 8 out of 10 for setting up a future team & about 5 or 6 for actual achievements so far. Whether his tenure is a success or not will depend solely on what happens next. I believe it will be but perhaps with still a few hiccups to come.

This time last year we were 11 points off the top and 6 points off the Champions League spots. The transition has been sometimes difficult but it takes time to build a team and building from the back has been painful but necessary. But the improvement is off the pitch as much as on. We now have a club that is fully integrated with the manager working as part of a bigger whole rather than heading up his own tight little circle of people and trying to keep it apart from the rest of the club. I wanted Mancini to be our manager for a long time and am not in any way disappointed with his first year. I am eagerly looking forward to his second year, it could be something very special.

Are we on an upward swing from this time last year? No, evidently not.

We are on the same amount of points and knocked out of a domestic cup.

That said, I don't want to see us make the same mistake again and sacking him, because it put us back to the drawing board last time. I like Bobby and I think he could well be our most successful manager ever, as I've already said, but if you think its all been rosey you're talking through your hole.

We wanted a world class manager with a track record and that's what we got.
Everyone wanted Sven and Les to have more time and things may very well have turned out great under either of those managers but in Mancini, I think we've got something special. I think he's right up there with the best and he's shown himself to be one tough bastard when it's been necessary.

I have no doubts that if someone can deliver for us, it'll be him.

Continued progress towards inevitable success.But it's slow progress rather than a big leap.Nothing wrong with that as it was always going to be the case.Still a few concerns/problems to be sorted but no reason to think they won't be.

Is it too early to make a final judgement? Of course it is as the season is only half way through and almost anything can happen from here.Every time I look at where we are and what is just around the corner it's possible to look really positively and see us making a serious challenge for the title but it's also possible to envisage a little slip and we are only fighting for a chumps league position.

So no final judgements/predictions just yet.

i give my opinions on football matters when there is something worth sayin OD. You should know that. If you were a regular reader of any of my posts that actually are on the topic of football, then you could probably guess how i'd feel. it's no secret, but since you asked:

I think Mancini is doing a reasonably good job. He has at times been appallingly poor in terms of selection and setup, but his attack-mindedness over the last month shows promise. I think he has a fantastic team at his disposal.

We're probably in violent agreement on those points, douche.

70 points from 39 games, lets just pretend that was 70 points from 38 games. That is good enough for a nailed on 3rd, or lucky 2nd, over a seasons worth of games.

Thats if I've just read that right!

Got to be fairly happy with that. It just gets frustrating like for example last year we had about 6 games to guarente 4th, but Spuds kept winning and we kept fucking up.

This season we have lost some must win games, I can think of 3 easily, we should have also atleast TRIED to beat scum.

Id take a trophy any fucking way at the moment, then worry about the pretty stuff once we have gelled and bonded as a squad, including a couple of additions
