A little under-rated?

Definitely over the last 4 or 5 games. I think he's been one of our best players recently. He has a real drive about him all of a sudden and hes been far more effective and physical in the center of the park.

Not IMO,he is a terrific player, however,i admit, alot of his work goes un-noticed by many.He reads the game very well and does alot of the dirty stuff including breaking up play.He has been one of the first names on the teamsheet under all his managers(including Capello),that says everything.

Gets through alot of work in matches and it doesnt always get noticed. I think he's done a very good job on the whole since he signed. Was surprised last season to see him get some stick, it was certainly undeserved.

Didnt think today was one of his best games. He was slow to get to the newcastle players at times and gave the ball away uncharacteristically a couple of times.

Whatever though, he would be one of the first names on my teamsheet.

Glad I ain't the only one. I was talking to someone on here who said he just didn't have it, but for me, he is one of the best players of the season and definately worth his starting berth.

The bloke is class, an even without the pace, he gets himself into position's that no other player would think of.

He was fairly awful early on in his time with us, but he's flourishing now.

I'm still upset though that we don't sing the Lady Gaga song for him. It's cheesy, but considering all we seem to sing these days is something to the Adebayor/Vieira tune, it'd be a welcome addition to our repertoire.

Been wonderful this season.

He's 29, played all his career in this league and it has taken him a year to settle in properly and yet alot of people want to send the foriegn lot back home after only a few games.

Spot on. His performances day in day out is just unbelievable.

LOOOVE Gaz Baz since long before he joined City.
Scroll back my posts about it, since I joined next year.
some moments of the unfortunate game vs. the Goluns, specially when Bob went to play with 2 holding midfielders, he really made me scream with joy, I mean like a cunt... :-)

I thought he was very good indeed yesterday. He is not quite a Rolls-Royce of a player, but certainly a top-of-the-range Audi.

If only he could score as many as Horlock, we would maybe have a decent player on our hands.

Needs to chip in with a few more goals but otherwise superb.

Barry has always done a tremendous job, but because he plays a deeper role many cant see it and the threads start - shite/waste of money/slow etc etc. His tackling, holding and passing are all excellent, and it's good to see him getting a bit more forward licence (first 10 mins - deliberate policy after the Everton debacle???).

Absolutely agree with the majority of the posts. He is one of those players who looks like he is doing nothing when he is doing everything right, how many times have we got the ball on the halfway line and turned the play around because Barry squeezes the play or pops up with the ball out of a crowd.

Very good signing and no surprise that Villa have gone to shit since he and Milner joined us.

Hahaha, that's a tad snide on superKev methinks!

You don't have to score loads of goals to be a decent player. He's been performing consistently well throughout the vast majority of his career, City included. He's great at what he does. HIs positional sense, reading of a game, breaking up play, starting attacks and linking build up play is absolutely spot on, all the more so considering he has a fat arse, and isn't rapid.

It irritates me when people harp on about him being crap or average, just because they fail to appreciate what he does for the team. How can people think like this expect to be taken seriously on footballing matters? If you don't like Barry, it's a black mark against your football sense. FACT! And if that sounds condescending; good, you deserve it.

And don't give me that 'all about opinions' guff cos it's complete rubbish. In my opinion.
