I would still go for Dzeko, he's just what we need, and he's superb and a class act as well.

I would take both. Carroll impressed me yesterday, but what if he was a one season wonder? If we take both, we can afford the Carroll gamble.

I'd take Kenwyne Jones over both of them.

You do realise, he will probably cost xyz Million more than Dzeko, simply because he's English

He is not a one season wonder, his physicality alone will ensure any defence always gets a hard time, pretty much an ideal lone front man, although i imagine, alongside a quality partner with two decent wingers he would be awesome.

I rate him, physically imposing/intimidating,great winning attitude, doesn't hide or go missing, hungry, brave and talented. He has also proved his capability in this league and, subsequently, would not be considered a gamble.

If we don't sign this lad it will be one that got away(for me,even at the expense of the Bosnian)

He's not a one season wonder, he's been a top player in every age group & at every level he's played. His present form is a natural progression. I don't think he's the player we need right now though because it would be too much of a shock for him & us to adapt. I would however, do a deal to get first refusal on him, in case that changes.

He looked unplayable at times yesterday. I'm certainly warming to the big lump.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near our team until he cuts his hair.

It's a no-brainer for me. We don't score headed goals, Andy Carroll does.

Not me.

I prefer fast mobile football on the ground. We'd have to change the way we play to get the most out of Carroll to the detriment of players like Silva and Tevez.

Carroll is a product of "typical" English football, and would be a step backwards.

This is an unfortunate attitude imo; that somehow 'tyical' English football represents shit football because wankers like Talyor & Bassett took it over for a period & their disciples have continued to pollute the game. It's an insult to some great players of the past. It shows great ignorance of how teams can be brilliant both on the ground & in the air & how much damage Taylor, Fat Sam, Pulis & Co have done to the reputation of the English game. Some of the best football I've ever seen, involved teams who were great passers of the ball but also had big aerial centre forwards just like Andy Carroll. Heading & jumping is a skill like any other. Few have it now but that in itself means it's an edge to have a player who can do it. (see Cahill)

Incidentally Carroll's shot from outside the box v Liverpool is a better example of striking a ball than anything Silva, Balotelli, Kolarov or Tevez have so far produced for City. Because it was a 6 ft 4 Englishman rather than a five foot Argentinian, people assume it was a fluke. It wasn't. He was practicing volleys from 30 yards & nailing them in the warm up at Eastlands. He's not quite the player for City imo but dissing him as some kind of troglodyte is nonsense.

City once blew the league title by replacing Wyn Davies with Rodney Marsh btw.

I don't think he's a poor player, but his best asset is his strngth in the air, and I do not want to see City change their style.

Look at Barcalona. Fast, mobile, movement, technique. This is the football we should aspire too. And in Silva and Tevez we have footballers who love to play that way. Carroll can't fit into that quick technical game
