villa was there for the taking

so why didnt we kill them off, 4-0 up with 30 mins + and we just tried to keep the ball. passing back all the bloody time, we must have had 20 passes in our own half and didnt go forward. ive seen better teams then villa who we have beat 4-0, but the other team played a lot better then villa. we should of gone at them more and tried to score a couple more goals, i know im moaning at winning 4-0 but we really need to score more goals.

If the game had been a regular Saturday game rather than one of a bunch in a short space of time I reckon we might have had more. As it was Mancini was happy for them to take it easy , save their legs and coast home. Not really a problem is it?

We did switch off, but I didn't really mind. The match was in the bag, so we played it out, avoiding injuries and stupid yellow cards. There's another game in three days, so I think we did the right thing saving our legs until then.

That was the second of three games in a week - I don't think anything else needs to be said really?

In the last month, we have gone from having a goal difference as rubbish as Tottenham's to one in the same area as Arsenal/Chelsea. We are finishing teams off - 4-0 against Villa is a great win. Our goal difference at the end of the season will be around what Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea have. That will come from both our increasingly improving ability to score goals, and our solid defence.

I agree with many opinions on this, but I can see where Steve is coming from.

The shit, Arse and Chavs stole a march on us in this department in the earlier part of the season, but we've responded in recent times.

We also play Vile again at the end of January, so maybe another chance to do a job.

We have another game in 3 days, and then the visit at the Emirates; we should keep our energies for when they are needed.

Sorry Ste but this really is a bollox thread.

4 fucking 0. Clean sheet, I swore we were going to let one in at the end. I actually thought that 11 worked really well together, very strong and athletic.

Good to know we can do it without Tevez, no Barry or Milner for most of the game etc.

They WERE there for the taking, and we took. 4 goals onto the goal difference. Goal difference never tells lies at the end of the season, and ours is catching up the the positions in the league that we could only dream of at the start of the season/.

Houllier has to go sharpish. Their defence was terrible.

The really sad thing for Villa is that Mancini knew he could rest players and still slaughter them. Although apparently we cant play without Tevez, Mark Lawrenson said.
