Nigel De Jong

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Nigel De Jong

Postby s1ty m » Tue Dec 28, 2010 7:50 pm

Just back down the foggy, congested M6, horrible journey.

Well, NDJ is the best player in the Premier League. I refuse to discuss this, he just is. If he carries on like this, he should be Footballer of the Year or Players Player, whatever those awards are called. He is imperious.

I shag the fact that we've got a top player before he peaks. We've had the likes of Hamann and other has beens where other clubs had already had the best out of them.

The same can be said of many other members of our team too. We don't have anyone (apart from Vieira and possibly Kolo) whereby they can be considered peaked.

I love the little bastard and glad he was given the arm band today. One of those players that makes you proud to support City.
CANNOT WAIT until he scores, I just hope its at home so we can all go mental with him!
The new Makelele??? Fuck that, he's going to be/already is better than him.

I agree. It took me a while to warm to De Jong as last season he didn't have much to his game apart from tackling, but he has improved massively this season. His passing and distribution is becoming increasingly important to the team, as well as his ability to marshall the midfield and protect the defence.

He's having a great season, although unfortunately won't be in with a chance of winning any PFA awards due to the media spotlight on him after the Alonso and Ben Arfa incidents.

Keep up the great work Nigel!

Spot on Aaron! His passing and confidence in possession is something which has been added to his game this season.
The fella is obviously well settled here and it shows in his game!
We're assembling a team of players coming to their peaks: NDJ, Silva, Komps, Joe, AJ, Carlos.......it all looks good!!

That armband seemed to give him extra special powers yesterday. I think he should keep it. He leads by example AND speaks great English. The backbone of our squad, right down the middle is absolutely awesome with Hart - Komps - NDJ - Silva - Tevez you can't go far wrong. Good times are happening.

Good to see he is now getting the recognition he deserves - different from a lot of negative posts about him some months ago - one-dimensional etc

Before he joined we were leaking throught midfield - being generally completely overurn - and he stopped it almost from his first game and now things only get better

I like the way he is starting to look with Ya Ya as well - and together they will give Silva the space to work magic

Hope this thread stretches many pages with all the previously doubting posters coming out in their recognition and support

Really fantastic player and showed just how good he is yesterday - I think he should be captain

He's a home fans footballer, just like Beller's, Savage and many more.....love the guy to bits with what he does.

Take a look at the games where he hasn't played and you'll notice a very obvious pattern

actually a lot of "other" fans are impressed with his work-rate and commitment and fortunately most people didn't buy into the press hysteria after the ben arfa incident and recognise he's a commited player and a tough tackler

Fair point Wooders, maybe I'm judging him on the "noise" surrounding the WC Final and ben Arfa.
