Ben Mee has joined Leicester City on loan until the end of the season.
The former FA Youth Cup winning captain reunites with former boss Sven-Goran Eriksson and coach Derek Fazackerley at the Walkers Stadium.
He will also team up with Republic of Ireland international and City teammate Greg Cunningham who is likewise on loan to the Blues FA Cup opponents – neither will play in that contest on January 9.
Mee has been itching to get out on loan and further his experience following a string of eye-catching displays in the reserves.
The 21-year-old had the choice of a couple of Championship sides but eventually plumped for Leicester and will go straight into their squad to play at Hull on New Year’s Day and against Swansea on Monday.
Mee made his senior debut for the Blues at West Brom in this season’s Carling Cup and has also pulled on an England shirt at under 21 level.
He is hoping that the move to Leicester will enable to make further impression on another former City boss Stuart Pearce and put him in contention for the Under 21 European Championships in Denmark.
"Knowing that England are still watching me and that they have the belief in me has given me a lot of confidence. It's given me the motivation to keep going, and hopefully I can get into the squad for the Euros next summer,” he said.
"I had a big boost and a lift from the whole experience and now I hope to get another one at Leicester.”
Mee joins a whole host of potential future Blues stars out on loan including Vladimir Weiss, John Guidetti, Kieran Trippier, and Cunningham
