Would you stop the season now?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Would you stop the season now?

Postby Dronny » Sun Jan 02, 2011 5:06 pm

The gimps win the PL giving them a record 19 titles but we come second and defo (ie non qualifying) Chumps League footie next season....tough one but I'd take it.

We then ramp it up and win the PL in 2011-2012!!

Not a chance. So much is still available. We are playing well and have the strongest squad in the league.

1. Premier league title
2. Europa league trophy
3. FA cup trophy
4. Edin Dzecko + ?
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

There's no doubt that had this been a reply to the same question back in August then it would have been a definite YES, but here we are in 2011 with a great chance of something that none of us have ever seen - winning the damn thing !!

I'll take my chances and put my faith in Mancini and the boys that in another couple of months time we are still going to be in the mix, in which case I'll be happy with my answer. Of course if we are 5th by then, I reserve the right to come back and amend my answer

Am I the only one that is finding it hard to believe not only that we are where we are in the league, but also realistically in with a chance of winning it? How far we have come in such a short space of time. I still remember waking up after a cruciate knee op in Sept 2008 to the takeover news and thinking it was all a load of bollocks

How "typical City" would that be for us to win a treble.

Or win the UEFA, the FA and then finish 5th in the league.

Would you stop the season now?

Now let me think that one through Image
Oh why not.

As for you, no, obviously.

This is not an 'Invincibles' season, you just aint trying hard enough!

Game this week for you could reduce the title race to two.

Hell no! This season is so exciting and we still have the europa league and the fa cup coming as well and we could realistically win them this season!

The only sense i can make out of the OP question is it is just another way of putting would you settle for second. Why stop the season with all the FA cup and Europa games to come.. no exactly.

So if the question is would you take second now.. i dont see why anyone should. we are just half way through the season. When the European games kick in and the cup games they will take a toll on all the teams and there will be lots more surprises in store yet. The whole top of the league could all change again yet and while it is open to be won we should aim to do that.

I think its a good question.

We could get dumped out of the cups in the next stages and lose Tevez and Silva to injury, suddenly, we'd be hanging on to a top 4 spot.

Spurs are doing well now, although to be honest the further they go in the champs league the better for us in the premier league.

We can cope with Europe, they cant.

Chelsea will still get 70+ points this season.

Arsenal are hit and miss and not good enough defensively to mount a serious challenge.

Scum are due a bad patch sooner or later.

Id take 2nd right now, but I'd want a pretty fucking serious assault on the champs league and premier league next season.

However, If we can keep everyone fit, I think we can be in the hunt all the way this season. Its very very finely balanced. If we were 6 points ahead with 2 games left, I still wouldnt trust us to do it.

Halfway through the season and level on points with the leaders - who aren't playing well and surely must be found out in the end.

A resounding no to the OP's question.

If we were to win at Arsenal on Wednesday the league table would suddenly start to vaguely resemble a two horse race. Even if we were to finish second in that race to our worst enemies I know I wouldn't want to miss out on the most exciting end to a season that most of you can remember.

Get a grip - believe - we actually can do this :-)

You are on a train, you have just come out of a long tunnel, the view is wonderful, the company great and you have just been served with a delicious meal...When you reach youR destination, there is a real chance you will be met by a beautiful young, willing and hot lady.

Why the fucl would you want to stop the train?

It's a great question to ask Dronny. I think most of us are of the opinion that if we stay at the table, we can win more rather than lose.

Nah.

Why stop the season when everything is ours to be had.

2nd in the league, in the latter stages of the Europa, FA Cup still to come.

The season begins now!
