20110105 Blues won't loan out Sturridge
Ancelotti says striker will get his chance in coming weeks
Last updated: 5th January 2011

Sturridge: No loan move

Carlo Ancelotti insists there is 'no way' Daniel Sturridge will be leaving Chelsea on loan during the January transfer window.

Reports have claimed that the striker has asked for a temporary stint away from Stamford Bridge in order to play regular first-team football.

Sturridge has made 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, but has yet to start for the reigning champions.

He scored in both UEFA Champions League ties against MSK Zilina, but remains the back-up to the likes of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

However, Ancelotti feels the 21-year-old will get his chance over the coming weeks and does not want to lose Sturridge from his plans.

"Sturridge has the quality; he will have more opportunity to play for us up front at the beginning of games," said Ancelotti.

"He hasn't asked to go on loan but if he asked me I would say, 'No way!'"

Huge talent at 16. Turning into a nothing now.

22 this year, no longer a 'prospect'. Good riddance.

Oooh such harsh words!

If Sturridge was half as good as he seems to think he is he would be in Chelsea's starting XI every week. Unfortunately for him, he is a very average player with a shitty attitude.

In hindsight, I'm happy he fucked off. We didn't need him then and don't need him now.
I stick him in the same bracket as Dickson Etuhu. Greedy little fuckers who bit the hand that fed them and if their careers take a nose-dive, I won't be shedding any tears on their behalf.

Seriously he was winding his contract down for this move whilst being a in the 1st team here.

Did he honestly think he was gonna go to a team with Anelka and Drogba and get more games?

Is he that thick?

Small time players thinking big never works...he should have gone to Sheff Utd when he had a chance to, Ched Evans would have then kept him out of the team Ha Ha

Sturridge could have been a lot better imo, he has plenty of skill, can shoot, beat a man, scores goals & has good pace. The fact is though that he was regularly outshone by Ched Evans & Co when at City. Now Evans was very very good at youth level tbf but Sturridge was an outstanding prospect as a kid who seemed like he figured he'd made it at 15 & still looks the exact same player now; barely improved even 10% since then. He should be ashamed of himself.
