On 6th January 2011, Roy Keane was expectedly sacked by Ipswich. He had been offered a five year deal but on only 2 shillings a week. Thus insulted, he left.

Losing Colback might be the final straw. In the space of two days it went from...
-Keane says talks are progressing well.
-Colback is going to take time to decide.
-Sunderland recall Colback.
Add to that the loss to Forest and his recently record of 7 losses in 9 games, would not be surprised, but it would be a rapid turnaround from the board who said he was safe and would be given funds this window.
