after today's performances from kolarov and boateng, it's clear that zab is the best left and right back at the club. do we have enough money to clone him?

Boateng is awful at defending corners in the world cup, remember when he left Upson free as he was too busy watching him rather than the ball in the Germany v England match.

It's not settling in issue this lad has, it's a issue that he cannot defend corners or crosses into the box and let's wide players cross without closing them down when in right back.

Disappointing so far as he has so much to learn and I thought we were signing are more complete player. Maybe he will be in 3 years+ ?

Been saying it since they came. Boateng is criminally awful and cannot be part of this team on any level. Kolarov is slow and total shite. It is utterly plain to see.

Boateng looks lost in the PL. Everything seems a step to fast for him. Can't move and control the ball at the same time.

This isn't the Bundeslegia, boy.

Im not that down on Kolarove hes been decent but i do expect much more from him.

Boateng has been poor on far too many occasions now that im begining to lose hope for him.It could be argued hes a centre back but his defending on corners does not bode well if thats the case.

Boateng has not a single redeeming featyre. I have sat and thought it through; I like nothing about him.

I was going bananas when he passed it to a leicester player for the 7th time in as many minutes.

Kolarov is, sadly, very slow and turns like the Queen Mary. He will not be able to cope in the Prem, he was exposed by Championship players ffs.

Micah and Zabs, end of. Unless people still want to tell him to 'please go'. Fucking unreal how we canb see it so differently.

Ah well, still, in the cup.

Boateng is no good in the air and doesn't tackle and surely as a defender this is basic?
Kolorov got skinned by Wayne routledge, leyton baines would be a sounder option imo.

I'm sick of saying it but these blokes should not be playing in games like this.

We can all see that they struggle against quality but even more so against that kind of opposition. So why the fuck play them, especially both at once? They need time to get their act together & should be playing one at a time mainly at home, against lesser teams. We got away with Boateng v Newcastle but If it goes on, it could cost us big time.

If we can't play with the squad we have and find the desire to win, then what options do we have??
Our squad looked tired and unprepared; Vieira, Jo, SWP, and Boateng looked like they shouldn't have
been picked as substitutes. We just added another replay onto the schedule and the Scum just blasted
their way into the fourth round. If we wanted to make a statement then this should have been the match.

Kolarov i like. He's gets caught out a bit atm but he will learn and improve, much like pab zab has over the years. He has the raw materials to be a top player in England he just needs some time.

Boateng however is very worrying. He keeps playing very very average and isn't really showing much promise. He is very young though so perhaps he will grow into the english style but atm I struggle to justify him starting, Micah and Zabs are far better choices atm!

It's not always easy to come over here & play football. Remember Evra? Particularly v Trevor Sinclair? If you turned back time & put Evra in the same position now, he'd run fucking rings round him. We shouldn't be exposing these blokes so badly.

If Mancini decides he needs a left back I would consider the Newcastle one.

correct - but they have to learn dont they.. and there is only one way to do that, school of hard knocks.

As fans we have to give the manager and the club the benefit of the doubt and let them get on with it.. learning is a fuclin process it requires patience and understanding and most of all it takes being thrown into the lions den and trying.. and realising things.
Ultimatley that is why it takes time to get a team together.. thats why youngsters take time to develop.. otherwise we would live in a fuclin perfect world and there would be no development and there would probably be no football league!

One thing I have noticed is that teams are really keying in on the time to set up corners and
set pieces. I don't know how many goals have been scored on us from these, but I would bet it
would be a lot. Most teams who are playing us are really cutting the time it takes to get
the ball off.

Sums it up queit well m8, but in this game a thought Boateng were better than Kolarov.

I like Kolarov. He looks the type of player though that should be playing left mid/wing forward. He doesn't seem to be able to defend for shit, but he's pretty awesome flying forward. It'd be nice if we could do a Bale with him.

Can we never ever give players just a little time to bed in before writing them off. I'm sure both given time are going to be fine. The Premier League is probably the fastest and hardest league to adjust too, god does anyone recall Dave Silva at Spurs and how he looked like a deer in headlights.

Let's give a player at least as season and a run of playing injury free before judging. There will no doubt be a Dzeko is not good enough thread in two weeks time!
