Roque Santa Cruz has returned to Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old Paraguay striker, who was signed from Rovers by Mark Hughes in July, 2009, has been unable to force his way into Roberto Mancini's team this season after recovering from injury.

"Rocky", who featured in the World Cup in South Africa last summer, has started only one match this campaign, in the Carling Cup at West Brom in September, and Mancini recognised his need for regular football.

He returns to the club where he made his name as a prolific Premier League scorer after joining Hughes at Ewood Park from Bayern Munich, but his time with the Blues has been blighted by injury setbacks.

Abdisalam Ibrahim is also on the move as the 20-year-old midfielder goes on loan for a month to Scunthorpe, against whom he made his senior debut almost a year ago in a fourth-round FA Cup tie at Glanford Park.

Abdi signed for the Championship club in time to make his Scunthorpe debut tomorrow against Leeds at Elland Road.

He isnt a bad player at all,far from it.

But his injury record and bad business from Hughes saw to it that he will go down as one of the worst pieces of business for our fine club.

BTW Jo is still at our club.

Maybe City are just covering their ass treble-fold. After the probs with the Goalkeepers last season they may just be playing it super duper safe. or maybe they genuinely want to see how some players match up when they have the opportunity to play games every week. i don't really believe him but Bob said that Bridge would likely return after the loan spell, maybe he means it?

All the best to him.

A criminal piece of business.

I think if he goes in the summer then the money counts towards the Fair play rules doesn't it? That's probably why we're allowing loan deals now, puts players like RSC and Bridge in the shop window far more than if they were here.

Good luck to Roque. It's not his fault that Hughes was obsessed with him and that the club as a result agreed to a ridiculous fee. Nor is it his fault that, inexcusably, he was signed up when he apparently failed his medical ( he wasn't ready to play till Xmas!). Despite endless injuries and then being out of favour I don't recall him bitching about the Club as players often do in those circumstances. I hope he bangs them in against our rivals and generally does well. A nice guy just not good enough when we have Dzeko, Tevez and Balotelli.

I would genuinely have liked to have seen him get a run of games at some point either this season or last when he's been fit. Not a bad player at all and I think we are generally harsh on him due to the fact that it was a fucking awful piece of business.

More to do with selling in the summer when the fee can be counted against the Fifa fuck all to do with fair play rules

I wonder if he can play against us at Ewood? I hope not as no matter how shite he's been for us - he'll definitely fire one in when we play them.

I was listening to an interview with Steve Daley the other day and he was quite proud to have that title!

He's going to be gutted if he reads this.
