One thing I am beginning to notice about our squad.... it's their attitude.
Every championship team, I don't care if it is the Cincinnati Big Red Machine
or Liverpool in the 70's or Chelsea's great run-- is ripe with attitude.
Talent is one thing, but one thing about being great, is that imperfect
intangible quality, cockiness.
Tevez, Balotelli, Johnson, Silva, even Vieira, you can swap their press clippings word
for word, but it is of the same mindset, "I want to win a title with City, It is time for
some trophies!!" And now that things have settled down under Mancini, he seems
to have them won them over with his individual style of management.
I haven't followed the club as long as you lifers, so I am sure this kind you
have been fevered with this type of fervor before, only to see it fizzle;
but I ain't whistling Dixie, as we Yanks say.
The media which has generally viewed us as with a mix of mockery and distain,
gets more scathing with every win. Pundits and columnists are apologizing
for the other squads shortcomings, not our occasional lapses. And any armchair fan
can see the more they hate Citeh, the more they are generally scared.
Scared we can win the FA Cup, the Europa, or even the League Title!! With every win
we close that gap.
A football manager, can't remember the name, once said, "They (the opposing players)
put their pants on the same way we do. One leg at a time."
That's call self belief. That's called ego. That's called being cocky!!
