Spurs' popularity ??

Up to now, 'Arry and his lovable band of Twitchermen have been the media darlings:- playing football from a different planet, scoring goals for fun and generally cutting a swathe through the defensive dross of the Premiership, the future of football.........

However, there seems to have been alarm, dismay and some anger rising, in various quarters, over their shoddy plans to demolish and rebuild the Olympic stadium, if their bid to relocate their ground is successful.

Will this anger and animosity carry on and mar their supposed popularity, even if their bid is unsuccessful, or is it just a temporary blip ??

PS Condolences and sympathy for 'Arry over his mugging; hope his injuries are not trivial.

I just hope we can carry on banging the goals in, as it seems that the wankfest over spurs is starting to die down as people cotton onto the fact that they aren't quite the swashbucklers itv would have you believe. If we had a decent tilt at the CL next season and didn't employ Mancini's defensive tactics every time we come up against a big side away from home, then I think we could cause astir like spuds have this year - on an altogether different scale though

I dont think there is a great deal of negativity about the spurs bid aside from athletics pundits who are self interested and trying to take some moral high ground. Either way, millions of our money has been spunked on a stadium that was poorly conceived and planned which is the true travesty of all this - as this situation should have been resolved a decade ago.

i hope spurs remain the media darlings, as it's keeping the pressure off us and there's no column in the league table for popularity.

A lot of the media is still London centric, so they benefit from that for starters. The hype though just like Chelsea were going to walk the league after the first few weeks, was based on the results and play of a few games. The problem Spurs have is that they have to deliver.. if they continue fairly well but miss out on everything then the media will just quietly drop the infatuated little girl act they are playing and move on to someone else who is delivering. This would happen pretty quick as Spurs suffer from the perception, quite rightly, that while looking pretty on occasion they always fail to deliver.. so as soon as they revert to type the story is already written and the press will go back to sleep muttering something along the lines of... always getting your hopes up.. mutter mutter... then ditching you when you are in love... mutter mutter.. not worth it.. mutter..
