A David Luiz fans forum claims that Benfica have blown out Chelsea on the Luiz deal because they have made clear their valuation of the player and want a straight cash deal. That's supposedly why he's playing for them tonight. Could be bluff of course but if a player plays he can always get injured.

As far as City is concerned I've always got the impression that Mancini saw as a left back who could cover at centre back. Benfica were asking too much so City got Kolarov instead. If he came to the club you'd have to assume he'd be straight into the team which would mean playing him at right centre back or right back because I don't think either Kolarov or Kompany's places are under consideration. However, although he's genuinely two footed it doesn't look as though City see him that way. Certainly journalists have been briefed that we're not interested.
