Manchester City youngster John Guidetti considering new three-year contract
Swedish striker looking for assurances over his future from club first
Manchester City's young Swedish striker John Guidetti has stated that he is contemplating signing a new three-year deal at the Eastlands club.
The former Brommapojkarna player wants to stay at the club but has reportedly become unsettled due to the amount of strikers City are buying.
Earlier this month, City shelled out £27 million on Bosnia and Herzegovina international Edin Dzeko and Guidetti believes it shows a lack of faith in him.
The 18-year-old, whose contract runs out in the summer, told Swedish website fotbollskanalen.se: "I want to fight on the same terms as everyone else.
"They offered me a three-year contract in the first team pretty recently, and it is of course incredibly large.
"They buy players for £28m yet they want to keep me and use me in the first team.
"We'll see what happens, I really do not care about the money. I want the club to appreciate me as a footballer and have faith in me.
"I don't want them to think; 'he is a great talent, but we'll see if he matures.'
"I must be there fighting under the same conditions [as first team players]."
The youngster, who City battled against some of Europe's top clubs for, has spent time on loan at Burnley, and his first club Brommapojkarna since joining the Premier League outfit in 2008.
Guidetti has been tipped for a call-up to the Swedish senior side soon, however he claims to have had little contact with his homeland.
He said: "So far, I have not heard anything and I might not even go with the Under-21 national team."

Is it any different to being a youngster at any other big club?
Only difference I suppose is the ones that have been here from when we were shit have seen the pressure increase. Has he been here that long?

That's a bad translation. I'm quite certain he didn't say that it was an incredibly large contract (either physically or money-wise), but rather that it's a big thing for him to be offered a new contract. That little misinterpretation makes him seem like a bit of a dick.

It's amazing if he gets called up to the senior national side after playing how many games for Burnley? Imo it would be very, very unexpected

I'd like to see him on loan to Blackpool,Wigan or similar. He is very promising, but at 18,in our set up,the reality is - he needs to be exceptional.A loan to a fellow prem,or at least top 6 Championship club, till the end of the season would prove his credentials.
It appears he certainly has the mentality and attitude to succeed.

To be fair, I saw him on Swedish telly few times commenting games and he came through as bit of a arrogant dick anyway.
Give him new contract and send him on loan to one of the Premier League strugglers as has been suggested.

We've offered him a contract and that's all we can do. If a player, at this moment in time and where we are at the moment is even thinking about whether to sign or not, it's no skin off our nose if they don't. Let him speak to players like Barton or Distin and see where moving on gets you.

Starting to get abit Lee Crofty.
Theres a guy in the reserves, young, hungry, talented, but he appears to be being held back. Why is that?
We have got to take a chance with him at some point, its not like he is Danny Allsop in disguise, the lad clearly has alot to offer.

Eventually we saw why Lee Croft was held back. He was lazy and fat bastard with decent right foot.

Ive been watching the EDS on the website and Ball does look handy and he has scored a few goals while on loan maybe i was a bit eager on Nimley.

Maybe a slight exaggeration but you get the picture:)

Only twice. However, Jo is pretty fucking useless, and should not be given another game unless we have absolutely no choice. Guidetti is supposed to be our best young striker, and as such should be given a chance to prove himself.

Bob sees them both playing every day. If he deserves his chance he'll get it!
