Something mentioned in the other thread - who would you pick if it given the choice right now?

I really don't know because I think Mourinho would only be here for a couple of years max, where as I could see Mancini staying for a long time if successful. Plus I think Mourinho's an arrogant cunt. That said, the man's won everything at club level...

if we were in the situation where the previous manager had just got sacked (like a year ago) I would've preferred Mourinho. But now I chose Mancini as he has already started to build his team etc. and I believe in him.

As has been mentioned, upsetting the applecart without neccessary need would be silly.

Also, its important to note that the Sheikh and co won't want to have all that negative press again unless they absolutely feel its the right thing to do. I wonder which is more important to them - success asap or a slow rise that sends out the "right vibes"?

Unless we go sharply downhill, I can't imagine this being landed on our doorstep, but the fact that Mourinho has started flirting, I think the topic's relevant.

I'm not sure; I think Mancini can be very successful with us, he may make some mistakes in selctions (Jo springs to mind) but he's giving us solid foundations to stay at the top for a long time; Mourinho on the other side...well he's won almost wherever he's gone (still hans't in Madrid so we have to say what he does there) and I do admire his arrogant ways at times. Other times though it becomes too much, and it can also lead to public fights within the club (look at his spat with Valdano at Real) which is not good at all.

One thing's sure, neither gives the prettiest football to watch to the fans. Not always at least. A thing they seem to have in common is that once they have made their mind on a player not being in their plans, it's hard for them to change it.

If we'd had Mourinho from the start of the season, I think we'd be in a better position to win stuff now, but in the long term I think Bob will do just as well at City as Mourinho would have done & I want him doing it for ten years or more.

If it was a choice between Bob for two years or Mourinho for two years though, I'd have Mourinho tomorrow. I see Bob as a long term manager who grows, with the club, to be the best. If his plans are short term & he plans to leave; Mourinho is the best short term manager in the world, he's proved that, so I'd have him like a shot.

If Mancini makes the top four I suspect he'll be safe even though Mourinho was probably always the preferred choice of the owners. If we come fifth I'd be amazed if they didn't try to tempt Mourinho to leave Real Madrid and who knows he might well be prepared to come to escape Jorge Valdano. He'd have to give up any ambition to manage United but we could offer him an unbeatable package, a very good squad and money to improve it further. He says he wants to come back to the Premiership and City would offer him the chance of creating history rather than following Ferguson which won't be easy for anyone.

If in the unlikely event we finish outside the top 4 and cupless then its a no brainer really
however, if mancio delivers silverware, or we end up in a champs league spot, then we can't really sack him, mourinho or ney, it wouldn't be right

Mourinho has done fantastic when given unlimited resources, we no longer have this (financial fair play), i'd rather not risk it.

I would rather stick with one man for more than two years. Its about time city had a manager for a 10 year stretch. Mancini is the man.

Mancini has won me over a lot over the last year but still at times he doesnt half show his madness.
I want this 'dynasty' to deliver a few silver pots soon and i dont want us chopping and changing boss.

I agree about preferring to keep Bob & I would have agreed with those sentiments about Mourinho this time last year but the fact that he's now at Real Madrid & has won the Chump's Lg with Inter, means there are few challenges left that would be so new & tempting. I think once he lands in the Prem, provided he wins stuff, he will stay for quite a while, then move to international football at the end of his career.

I think he'll be at Real next season, then come back after that. At that point, all being well, we need to have in place a commitment & a new contract already signed for Bob & if he won't give that pledge, we bring in Mourinho.

As far as quick fix managers go, there has probably never been anyone better than Mourinho. But you know that he wouldn't staty long. Global domination and building a lasting legacy will take time so I'll def take Mancini.
