Read the headline yesterday, and the part where they said he should be a 'Sporting' Lord. That's where I could read no more, the thought of him keeping his fingers in all the pies made me feel a little sick to be honest.

There are not many benefits from having this lot in power but at least as Taggart was a Labour advisor to Blair, we have a chance that Cameron will be of a similar mind to us on this one...We live in hope.

(Former prime minister Tony Blair revealed how he had sought Sir baconface's advice about Gordon Brown, asking him what he would do with a star player who would not do what his was told. Fergie-scum reportedly replied: "Chuck him out."
Sir [strike]Alex[/strike] pissed-up whiskey-nose has also dipped his toe into local politics – famously urging the people of Greater Manchester to vote for a congestion charge in a referendum in December 2008.

The plans were roundly rejected by the public and later scrapped.)

My my, what an influential character he has been in his little foray into politics. Another champagne socialist to add to the list, maybe he could sit next to two-jags.
Also cannot see Cameron giving him a peerage when he's confessed to being a die in the wool labour supporter.

No, but people ultimately reject it just because he's a red and not because it's someone football related.

I honestly don't see what's wrong with this. The guy obviously knows his football, we already have Lord Coe so having sportsmen isn't exactly groundbreaking and it would be nice to have someone with the game's interest as a Lord. (Not entirely sure how much weight they have though)

Who else would you suggest? Lord Lee? Lord Shearer? Lord Neville?

Edit: Just thought of a good one, Lord Gray. Just 3 women in the boys club, he'd fit right in.

Arguably, some people might reject it as a matter of principle i.e. because they're Republicans and feel the whole system of The Monarchy, The Peerage and The House of Lords should be abolished altogether.

And because he'll still have his fingers in all the pies, in a very Rag orientated sort of way.
