We need another Striker pronto.
I do not like slagging players of normally but I do not get what Jo brings to this squad.
Even more mysterious is what Mancini sees in him, I just don,t get it!!!

Mancini isn't weakening the squad.
He is pruning weak players from the squad.
Its a subtle difference but a crucial one.

He would be strengthening the squad if he'd signed replacements. Having to play Jo instead of any of the players he's released means he is weakening it.

Not really. He wouldn't pick Ade over Jo when Ade was here so Ade being elsewhere makes no difference. Same goes for RSC. The world and his wife may not rate Jo but Mancini clearly does or believes that Jo is worth persevering with as I assume he thinks there is a long term benefit. Whether Mancini is right or wrong time will tell. As for signing replacements as long as they are the right replacements then fine otherwise we stick with what we have. I also don't actually take much notice of what Mancini says to the press or the OS as it is usually the same 2 or 3 themes repackaged and recycled.

The fact that he thinks Jo is better than Adebayor, Bellamy & Weiss is hardly a feather in his cap.
BobKowalski wrote:I suspect that its more about Mancini trusting Jo to do a job than who is the better player. Ade on his day can be an astonishing player. If we played 38 games against Arsenal I suspect Ade would be on fire for 36 of them. But if asked to do a job then Mancini clearly trusts Jo to do that job whereas he just didn't trust Ade. If asked to sit out on the left and let Hart pump balls to him then Jo will sit on the left. Ade did a job when it fancied him to do so. Jo does as he is told.
So if you add the words to your statement "...at doing what he is told for the good of the team" after "Adebeyor" then we are pretty much on the money.
Bellamy is much simpler. He just thought Bellamy was a cunt and no doubt Bellamy thinks Mancini is a cunt.
They are probably both right.

I thought about all that & indeed suggested it when I watched Jo have a decent game against Fulham but I've studied it since & Jo fails to do anything that you're suggesting, often to the obvious annoyance of Mancini. I recon it's purely down to the fact that Jo was excellent v Inter, so Bob has thought he could get him to reproduce it. He's failed & rather than admit it, he's burying his head in the sand & it's very very poor management. I think/hope today even Bob has realised he's dropped a huge bollock & he was clearly pissed off when Jo alowed that bloke to run behind him unopposed to score the corner, when he was meant to be one of the blockers.
If you gave any other manager in the country our resources at the start of the season, Bob is the only one who would now be playing Jo. I know it & I suspect, in all honesty, so do you.

Or maybe Mancini having seen what Jo can do is prepared to give it longer than a few games. As I said time will tell whether Mancini's judgement is correct or not. I do not know exactly what criteria Mancini uses to judge whether a player is worth putting the effort in or not. Ireland he wasn't. Micah he is prepared to. Some will pay off and others won't. No one will be shedding tears over the fate of Jo either way and as I seem to be in a minority of one that doesn't start hyper-ventilating at Jo's very existence I guess I am relaxed enough to wait and see how it pans out.

... I suppose it's only fair that Jo should get another season to prove himself. So far he's only been shite for two and a half seasons.
