Pinocchio Thompson

Postby Green & Blue » Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:52 pm

Anyone watch him on ssn ranting about Torres. His face was priceless he looked ill with rage over it.

He was completely wound up about Torres commennts about now being at a big club.

When asked about it his response was something to this effect.

Not a big club they will never in our lifetime be as big a club as Liverpool FC.
You need to have a history, you need to have a fan base.Chelsea are never going to have that, never going to have that.
So what he said was outrageous.

The history argument is only used by clubs that know they have no future to look forward to.

As Torres as proved by his comments today history means nothing compared to the present.

What the fuck has history got to do with anything?

Really, as it stands the only clubs who ever use the history argument are the rags and the dippers - both harking back to periods of dominance when it was "their turn". I suppose it helps to have had a fatal disaster to have history also.

When rags argue with dippers, they scoff at ancient history, when dippers argue with reds they hold 5 fingers up - pretty much proving the rags right, I have little sympathy for scousers as they seem to believe that a 15 year spell counts as historywith the rest in relative anonymity.

Liverpool's turn may come again one day, and eventually the United era will die, when they will both have to endure a period most likely dominated by us and Chelsea making new history in the years to come. Eventually the wheel will turn again and it will be someone elses turn.

I certainly hope that if we ever are lucky enough to have won a few European cups and a dozen or more league titles I won't dismiss everyone else with such a pitiful and pointless argument

There was a shot of a female Chelsea fan at Sunderland waving a Torres Chelsea shirt complete with no 9. Ed Cahamberlain said to Thomson 'That'll take a lot of getting used to what do you think?'' Thomson was furious and refused to look at him. Ha ha.

Exactly.

Those morons think history is just winning leagues and cups. Everything that happens is history. Every game won or lost. Whenever we were relegated, promoted, the playoff final at Wembley. Plus all we won ever.

All our fans, players, managers, chairmen and most recently becoming the richest club in the world. Its all history.

The rags and dippers have no more history than us. Just different.

Except we are not cunts.

Unfortunately I am sure has something to do. It affects people's minds. If for example next summer we had as good team as rags, both were able to give the same promises, chumps lge etc, and were able to pay the same salary - a young brazilian wonderkid would choose them. because of their history.

It is fucking annoying, but as it stands when people think of rags, they think of success. and we know why that is.
And when the same people think about City, they think about "yeah its the other little club from Manchester. they always fail don't they?" and we know why that is.
History does matter.

I hope my point comes across here. I'm bit unsure of that

He does have a point though, Liverpool are a far bigger club and have more prestige than Chelsea. I know Chelsea have won more things in recent history and I can see why Torres went there as he didn't win a bean at the Pool but IMO PT is spot on.

I'm not actually sure though that Torres said they were a bigger club just that they are a big club which they are at this moment in time, much like we will be when we start to win trophies.

I love the way Liverpool hang on to the "We've got History" theme. They all also thing football conveniently began in the early 70's, as thats when their success began, and also ended by 1990.

In the period 1890 to 1974, encompassing well over 80 years, I invite Liverpool's fans to look up their history and compare it to Aston Villa's, Huddesfield's or Blackburn's amongst many others.

I could win the League in spain with that squad, Pep can come all he wants.

City are on the up, Sad but true. City have got the rags very worried, Sad but true. Rags cannot compete with our spending power and we will over take them within the next two years, sad but true. Everton are going into deeper trouble and have money problems, not sad but true.

Wise up
