Is it time for Shay to get a run?

The Notts County game was the ideal opportunity to play Shay. Maybe the replay. But I'm not as hard on Joe over the first goal as others. He still made some good saves. That save against Phillips volley was one that only maybe 30% of prem keepers could have saved.

I'd give Shay the Derby for three reasons;

1. Joe is not performing.

2. We need the confidence and experience he can provide between the posts on that day.

3. Any player who is dropped for a Derby would feel it more than any other game.

I personally like what i've seen of Joe and want to see him do well, not just for City but for Joe, but just lately he's been slapping balls away and not containing the possession like good keepers do, plus his kicking is VERY poor, unless he throws it short we are 99% guaranteed to lose posession from his kick.

Shay should DEFINITELY play in the Cup replay and also against Aris imho

I didn't see the game yesterday...was following it on the radio...but saw match of the day last night and he was definitely at fault for the first goal

Too many mistakes now

Drop him and put Shay in so Joe can get his head together

joe is playing below his best and like any player in a slump should be taken out of the team temporarily

I am the only one that took Mancinis' post match interview, something along the lines of "changes will be made", to mean he would start with the goalkeeping position?

I was right behind the goal that brum attacked in the 1st half

I know it was difficult for Joe with bodies flying about and he must have expected Zigic to get a touch (rather than to pretend he did)but for me Joe should have made the save (or some contact) and I think there is an element of goalkeeping error. He is also not commanding his area like it should

Shay has been prefessional and kept relatively quiet - I think that he should be given some opportunity over the next weeks.

Joe was a bit cavalier before his loan to brum and made too many mistakes - he then knuckled down - perhaps a reminder that he is not untouchable would focus him (but make sure that he is under a long-term contract) - I know that he is CITYs and England's number 1 for years to come but he needs to purge the mistakes

Do not want to be negative - just think that if this was any other position the high quality number 2 would be given a run

And thats not an Irish thing, for those of you who are ready to get on my back: I backed Mancini's decision to give Hart the Number One jersey but he no longer deserves to hold onto it.

I know cute mancs would like to put something else in his arse. Dunno if that adds to the discussion or not really.

Given deserves a run, Hart has had TOO many chances, he was dropping bollocks in October. He was too cocky. Now people are saying he has lost confidence. I struggle to comprehend how cockyness turns to lack of confidence. It happened with one of our strikers not too long ago.

yes he did say changes need to be made.

Bring them on, but i don't trust that he has a fucl of an idea what the changes should be.

No more derbies at the swamp for Shay, please! Do you forget how he was always awful there with magpies and expecially in the last two we lose at extra-time?

i said it weeks ago and got slated but Joe is simply not performing well enough at the moment, he should be dropped and shay needs to be given about 7-10 games.

I don't agree that Joe was responsible for the first goal. I don't see how he could be.

Furthermore as i saw at the time and as you can now see on the extended highlights on the MCFC official site. It was Richards not holding the line and moving back towards our goal, playing the Brum players onside as the free kick was taken. If Micah can't see that his players are holding a line in front of the opposition players , there not a lot that joe can do about that.

No I think Joe is doing fine , he's controlled his recent wrecklessness in the quick distribution of the ball with his throw outs too.

I would like to see Shay in net. I know Joe is the future, but I believe that Shay can restore some order and confidence in the defence.

I am not sure anyone got a touch on the ball as it came in, you think a keeper shouldn't be positioned in such a way that the ball's current trajectory is covered?

Agree. The first goal should've been cleared by a defender if they're going to allow the ball to drop that deep. But then I don't see these 10 games Hart hasn't performed in either. Given is just not as good as Hart, on crosses he's out of his depth.

That said, I find it hard to accept we won't buy a world class goalkeeper in the summer.
