Vidal Loan Update

Postby Slim » Sat Feb 05, 2011 10:28 am

A site I frequent on the net has a couple of Chesterfield fans on it and they are keeping me up to date with Javan Vidal's progress while he is on loan. He has played 4 matches so far and they are very impressed by his pace, engine and his ability to lend to the attack.

vs Shrewsbury:Told to stay back and did, covered the right flank well, no mistakes.
vs Gillingham:Bombed down the right to set up both Chesterfield goals.
vs Bradford:Came on at half-time and transformed the attack with his willingness to run at players.
vs Stockport:Had little to do as Stockport were entirely focused on the opposite flank.

So there we had it, from what I was told the loan deal was very short and he should be back with us very soon but if he is playing and playing well I cannot understand why we wouldn't let him continue.

I was very impressed with him a few years ago then he just seemed to fade away, like most of our academy players with any kind of attacking skill or verve seem to do. They all seem to have big weaknesses & holes in their game which get exposed at 1st team level.

The only ones who seem to come through to the 1st team on the whole are the athletes & stoppers. The only real quality footballer I can ever think of that's come through since the academy system was introduced is Ireland for one single season. It really is a dismal showing & the lack of quality output has been masked by our own past failures as a club.

Excellent analysis of the short coming of our Academy. We are seeing the products of the Academy that were there before the Sheik. Let's just say we did not have his money we would still be a mid table side who's main objective every season was to stay up. How many players have we produced that would have been good enough to help us achieve that? It's been five years since the crop of Ned Ireland and Richards have came through (you would also presume a skint club would have had to have sold Richards) what have we produced since then? Weiss? Not up to, Evans, Not even good enough for the Championship.

We have never produced a world class player, never mind a CL quality player. Those who were up in arms when Cassell was moved sideways need to look at the bigger picture.

As for Vidal. Saw him play for Aberdeen a few times last year and he didnt stand out in a poor league in a very poor side. My Aberdeen mates certainly did not rate him.
