Its looking likley that west ham will be getting the olympic stadium, seems a bit of a waste imo i cant see them filling half of it especially if they were to get relegated

I saw some pics on here of the stadium plans they had before they were talking about the Olympic stadium and it looked the business. Well they can just go back to that plan now!

I think that West Ham will be able to do what Fulham do and draw in the tourists. Providing that they keep their prices low then they will get an extra few thousand for every match. I thnk that it's a great move for them!

Got 2 big Spurs fans who are close mates, and they are/were dead against any move.

The thing Spurs always have over Arsenal is Arse moved in from Woolwich, whereas North London has always been Spurs territory - they refer to Arse as the "wherever I lay my hat" brigade or Woolwich Wanderers.

Anyways, its a bit rich us suggesting West Ham wont fill the stadium, when we struggle to fill our own on many occasions.

its not going to be that big thuogh is it, as most of the top section will be coming down. It was always designed to be removed after the games.

Will they be able to fill it? Is London a big enough City?

Arsenal showed how much and how quickly demand can grow to meet supply.

The new stadium has great public transport links putting it within easy reach of a lot of the local population. Football is generally expensive there but the counterpoint of that is that there's probably a huge secondary market out there for better value seats (if the product is right). West Ham have a reputation for playing good attacking football and producing exiting young players. The other elephant in the room is that the new venue makes them a prime target for a takeover.

With clever marketing they could get huge crowds easily. Some of it would be stuff copied from us, e.g. a family stand. Other stuff would be mass availability of cheap season tickets, discount schemes for bringing friends to matches or upgrading tickets to better seats. They'd have the space for a big neutral area, they'd also have the space to make it super easy and cheap to get away fans in.

However many fans the new stadium for the spammers does attract they will soon disappear when they realise that watching football from so far back beyond the running track is shite. What an atmosphere stopper that is. Glad they got it though instead of Spurs. That slimy-looking fucker Levy is now DEMANDING legal assurances that the spammers keep the track for the entire term of the lease which is 125 years!! Surely it would have worn out by then?

I thought it was only RAGS didn't realise we average 46,380 nowadays, and rising, allowing for some weak away attendances? Or are you talking about dodgy WAFFA games or cups against lower league oppo?

Fact is several games this season would've sold substantially more if we had the capacity - and we've done sod-all yet. Dont run us down for no reason.

Good points John, but pre-Mansour our gates were down in the 38-40k range. As for the dodgy Europa or FA Cup games, I think we can call them dodgy when we've actually won one of the buggers in the past 30 odd years - we dont really have the right to take the piss out of them do we?

City have a hard-core of about 35-38k who will turn up, no matter how pitiful the fare on offer. The rest jump on and off the bandwagon depending on the fixture or the clubs fortunes.

If the price is right, people will come. Imagine the choice of watching Arsenal at theirs for 100 notes, or watching Arsenal at West Ham for 30; which one would you choose?
