If they were going to build a huge pile of shite for loads of money, they could have got Ron Atkinson in.

As the cycling centre is just nearby, it would be apt to have a BMX course.

I live nearby (you can nearly see my flat on that) and went to a public consultation last year. All they are doing in remediation work, clearing the old factory building left in the ground, mine shafts, asbestos from the soild, etc. Costing a shit load of cash and they have been doing it for about 6 months now (although it has picked up a bit lately and the bastard trucks keep waking me up).

So nothing major going on yet but I am sure once the works done a planning app will go in, my guess will be some sort of retail/leisure complex with bars, resteraunts, etc.

No reason to clear all that stuff away if they are not going to use the land for something:-)

Going back some time, it was expressed by our owners that we would not only match the rags but overtake them.

We can assume that once the remedial work is finished, something huge will be erected on that site and City will have the World's largest erection (even bigger than carlfeedthegoat's) next to CoMS. This apparently will be even bigger than the huge erection that currently manages the rags.

They could just be building it for the summer as a temporary thing to host some some summer events, if they've finished the work underneath.

Looks quite large, probably something to do with transportation. I am sure it is probably part of their overall
goal to expand the stadium.

Think this one didn't get the appreciation it deserved.

Anyway, they are digging for new foundations for something it seems to me. There are runways to the site on each side.

This one is nicely droll too; like it John.

I understand the building thread on the other site-that-cannot-be-named has reached 500 pages. Nothing of note in recent weeks though (so I'm told!)

When you consider that one or both of the car parks were rumoured to be part of the development site, that is a big area. Even without the car parks it's a big area. I wonder if the hole being dug in the corner could be something to do with the rumoured tunnel to the other site we've bought accross the road?

There is a fair chance that the depth of the holes being dug are simply reflective of the amount of toxicity that is in the ground. Mining, foundries and the wireworks must have left a horrific toxic legacy over many years, that needs to be removed, before it is safe to develop the site.
