Aren't their ST holders forced to buy tickets for cup games as well unlike us? brings quite a few more faces to the stadium. just sayin.

but true, some of our crowds are truly embarrasing

not sure about the cup scheme things but we do have similar although we can opt out and rightly so.
when will the club realise they need to drop to £10 to guarantee a sell out? i cant afford the £22.50 against villa so another 1 less.

there can be no doubt it was sad to see yesterday how empty the place was. but the truth is people aren't made of money and if you have to pick between a premier league game, a europa league game against someone you've never heard of, or notts county you're going premier leage every time. i for instance will be hammering all the overtime hours i can to make aris and villa in the cup, i don't mind i love going. but that will put me back going out at weekends (not exactly a tragedy). so imagine having a family to support, you ain't gonna be putting notts county first are you?

Problem is almost self propagating in that everybody knows the attendance will be crap so think I won't bother either.

I'm putting myself in that bracket too, for me the club have to do a number of things to make me change my mind
1) move the away fans so at least those that want to generate an atmosphere can do so, having our singing section split in two simply detracts from this.
2) make sure cup games cost no more than £10 in the early stages
3) allow beer sales for European games

I thought no. or if beer is sold it is non-alcoholic. if I am wrong I stand corrected though as I am not 100% sure
At least in Copenhagen they only sold non-alcoholic beer and they did not sell beer at all in Hamburg iirc

I'm sure i've seen fans on the continent enjoying an alcoholic drink during Euro matches, or am I imagining this.

give it 10 years there will be a day when we sell 55,000+ for every game and not a single one of us can afford to be there.

Oh what a glorious day it will be for manchester city without a single empty seat.

Wonder what a season ticket will be costing by then.

Enjoy the empty seats (chance to go) while you can.

Our gate on sunday was pathetic, as it was for the Leicester game, and no doubt will likely be for Aris and Villa as well. The daft thing is, the attendance will be far higher to watch Wigan, that it will for either of the aforementioned games.

The club has done all it can, spending gazillions on players and lowering the prices to rock bottom levels but when push comes to shove, our fans dont turn up. No excuses, its a fact in black and white on the attendance sheet.

If we make the semi of either the Europa or FA Cup, no doubt the missing 20k will suddenly develop an interest in these competitions again. I would hope the club would reward those who bothered to turn up for the earlier rounds with a ticket fo any semis, but I doubt it.

Before the SCUM started winning the league etc, the 1990-91 attendances show they couldn't regularly fill 46,000. That season there were league attendances of 35,000 against Wimbledon and 31,000 against Derby. Our league crowds are pretty good already and we haven't yet achieved anything.

As for cup attendances, I have sat in Maine Road amongst less than 20,000 on several occasions, and I think you'll find our cup attendances are generally better than they have been in the past.

Scum and Arse force STs to buy cup tickets, is that where we want to go?

No need for panic, it will come.

Do they still do that? I thought they'd stopped amid a plethora of complaints.

I really wish I knew what the answer was to our cup games problem - certainly in our case it was always a tradition then we never bothered going to cup games. I can remember as a kid with a season ticket wondering why we weren't going to the FA Cup game - just total apathy I suppose. Finance is obviously a big factor, our fans are predominantly working class Mancunians who save up all year to buy a season ticket but anything extra is a stretch too far.
