Training Tuesday 22/2

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:55 pm

Normal service resumed on a grey day at Carrington.Good news for those watching as they were mostly working on the open pitch. Good also to see Milner and SWP back in full training.AJ doing well ( no timescale given for his return) Nigel about 2 weeks away and Shay looking like he needs an op.Apparently it's a different shoulder for Shay this time.David Gonzalez might be recalled from Leeds but it can't be done yet as there has to be a minimum period for a loan before a player can be recalled.

After Mancini's normal chat to all the players they did their usual stretches and jogging and then went behind the fence. Mancini took a team for the usual formation stuff while the rest played in a keep ball circle.Ten minutes later and they came back out for a game of 9 a side on a small pitch but not before a group of 7 were put through a short work out and Micah was on the sidelines with Ivan Carminati.Just before this Mario was having a bit of fun again with Joe and penalties.I think Lescott was challenging Mario to score 5 out of 5 and he got the first easily with Joe as ever complaining that he keeps stopping in his run up.

The match was fairly short and very competitive. The players that usually catch the eye are the goalscorers and that was true today.Carlos I felt was really up for it ( his top corner finish was superb) but so was Mario. Jo scored the first goal but Dzeko scored plenty and set a beauty up for SWP.Not sure what the score was and I don't think the referees were either. 4.4 was mentioned which suddenly changed to 5.3 which had Vinnie reacting angrily. I think they settled for 4.4 and played a few more minutes so Dzeko could win the game.

Amongst the watchers today were 3 young teenage girls and it was Joe's lucky (?) day as one was going to propose to him. That's if she could stop shrieking for a second or two. A number of others watching as well and getting lucky to see them in the open but not so good for a few who turned up literally as they were leaving the field. And then a couple of guys turned upas they were going off and shouted David Platt over for his autograph. Sounded like scousers too, very strange.

Just before the end something like 20 young boys ( I think they were City's under 8's!) all in white shirts who got the chance to meet the players and get photos taken by Sharon which i assume will be on the main site soon.

It's a disgrace that your not on your own little seat next to the pitch and having to share space with mere mortals.

Keep the faith Doug and cheers for your report.

Cheers Doug, good to hear Milner and SWP back fit to bolster our numbers. With all the games coming up we will need them.

11.09 am?

If Nige comes back fit in a couple of weeks it'll be an excellent time. He'll come back hungry ready for the business end of the season and allow a bit more rest for someone else.
