Holloway

IF Blackpool manages to stay up, a prime example of a manager that should move clubs in summer. They will get absolutely murdered next season. Credit to Holloway for being a cunning manager, something I already knew having followed his career quite closely.

And NO, I wouldn't want him managing us but I think he'll make a great manager for midtable club like Aston Villa.

He's worth it just for the press conferences.

Whilst I don't completely agree about Warnock I will find both of them piss funny next season.

Fair play to Holloway for the job he's doing at Blackpool. He's still a total bell though, and his managerial career has been VERY hit-and-miss. Just ask Plymouth and QPR fans.

Exactly what I thought watching the highlights last night. They looked like old men agaisnt Spurs at times last night and could /should have been battered.More and more they have been found out and if they escape this year, relegation next year is nailed on.

The defending v Spurs was some of the worst I've ever seen at any level. Almost any kind of attack, good or bad, seemed to have them completely mesmerised as individuals but they were totally lacking in any kind of basic shape, sometimes having big holes for no reason, for instance; no fullback on one occasion even when almost everyone was behind the ball. Attacking & being iffy at the back is one thing, being a total amateurish mess is another.

It suggests to me that Holloway is getting away with it somewhat as a manager. He did fuck all previously & will probably return to it.

No, I mean he is breath of fresh air to all the usual retarded mumble managers and players give.

Agree with all of this. Far from becoming a top PL manager like Owen Coyle is, he's turning into the new Phil Brown, revelling in the limelight and the cultish affection of the club's fans. They're doing well and fair play in that sense but I don't see it as sustainable.

There is little doubt that keeping Blackpool up would be a huge achievement. However if it all went wrong next season, and that isn't the least likely outcome, then all this season's good work would be forgotten and he'd be shown the door. So as a previous poster mentioned, he should move on to a more secure club if possible. That is from a selfish personal point of view, but I hope he stays with it and show some rare loyalty that often is missing in modern football.

I'm sure he will stay. Where else would he get 30% of a player's sell-on fee (if he signed them)? Fuck me he'll be totally wadded if he stays there another year or two as all their decent players will surely move on to clubs that pay the going rate.

Plus I think he's too flaky for a big club with pressure. I couldn't imagine him EVER managing one of the following:

Munes
Us
Chelsea
Spurs
Villa
Everton
Sunderland
Newcastle
Arsenal
West Ham
Leeds

I could, however, see him at somewhere like:

Bolton
Wigan
Wolves
Sheffield United
Hull City
Stoke City

Wow I didn't know he had a clause for a % of sell on fees. Is that common knowledge and I've not been paying attention?
I take your point about where you could and couldn't see him managing, but with his raised status I could actually see him at Leeds. Their fans would love him as they're all as mad as badgers.

It came out in January after someone in the press suggested that he was trying to drive up the Charlie Adam fee for his own financial gain. In his newspaper column, Holloway confessed that when he went to Blackpool he complained straight away that he was tired of getting players on the cheap, improving them, and then seeing the board of whichever club he was managing sell them on. Karl Oyston countered this by writing into his contract that he would receive 30% of the profit made on any player he received an increased fee for, so long as the player was a Holloway signing.

Charlie Adam was signed from Rangers for 500K. Holloway was pushing for 14M for Liverpool or Spurs. That's a 13.5m profit, of which he personally would've received 4.05M. Not bad, eh? And his contract doesn't contravene any rules.
