Most certainly, was in the scoreboard end. Never forgave best for that. Just like I never forgave Martin Buchan a few years later.

And shitbag Keane. A hatrick of career ending tackles dished out by those southern wankers. That game was on my second birthday so don`t quite remember it, but i did notice we weren`t "in control of the game" until it was 4-0.

That may have been quite a while ago but trust me...it is also a look into the future....WON'T BE LONG.

I'd never really given it much thought before but how alike are Tevez and Frannie Lee? Small, squat but tremendously strong. They both covered a lot of ground and ratted back when the ball was lost.
On the Pardoe/Best tackle, the sory afterwards was that Best was distrought and the next day was in tears at Pardoe's bedside. It was a terrible tackle but for some reason, as much as I couldn't stand Best, I never felt angry about the part he played. Remembering that as hard as those derbies were, most of the players knew each other well and mixed socially.

Colin Bell makes the point that Martin Buchan never made any attempt to apologise or express his regret.

Great video that first one. I must admit to feeling the same as John about the Best tackle but nowadys a straight red, even though Sinstadt said it was an accident!!

He also said it was Neil Young who headed the first goal. Idiot since when did Nelly head a goal. That Fitzpatrick was a bit of a thug.Played a bit of football against him the in the bowl car park near OT!

And they only got the consolation after a foul by Stiles on Oakes. That City team was superb and miles better than the scum at the time despite the names thay had.

Somewhere amongst those videos is an interview Jimmy Hill did with Geoff Hurst, where he clearly describes Colin Bell as 'the best around' & as being much better than everyone else.

Ask him now, who was the best at that time & I bet he'll say a rag's name, probably Bobbeee Chaarlton.

I remember that day well; I'd gone to the game with a friend from work, together with another 'character' he knew and these two were both Manure supporters.

We were standing fairly close to the touchline (on City's left flank) and almost in line with the Best/Pardoe 'incident' (for want of a better way of describing it) with a clear and unobstructed view. Best's "tackle" was, actually, a high, double footed drop-kick with both sets of studs clearly showing and the cowardly, thuggish and malicious act of an evil intent.

City were superb that day and, from the very start, were playing the Scum off the park. As the game progressed, the Manure resorted more and more to trying to kick us out of our stride and Best's action was an extension of that, meriting no feasible excuse. The FA should have come down on him like a ton of bricks. It really was the despicable action of a despicable person.

Afterwards, going home in the car, my two companions were (genuinely, I feel) ashamed of the way that the Scum - and Best in particular - had conducted themselves over the 90 minutes (there was no Fergiescum time in those days). Moreover, they were certainly in awe (and envy) of the stylish way that City had taken them apart and City's bold and excellent play in general.

It was later reported that Glyn Pardoe, when taken to the hospital, had come within minutes of having to have his leg amputated; that's how serious the injury was and it finished the career of a fine player. One small irony, from the game itself, was that after Pardoe had been taken off, the Ragscum, imbecilic twirp of a referee booked Best, but gave a free kick to the Scum.........

Up to that game, I'd had little regard and time for 'Beatle-Boy Best' but, afterwards, I hated him with a venom which has continued to this very day. I'm still hating him now as I sit typing at this keyboard and when the abject drunkard finally killed himself by his alcaholic excesses, I, for one, didn't shed any crocodile tears over the loss of such a poisonous and retarded Scumbag.

Apologies for the rant but, when you add King Colin and poor old Alfie Haaland to the list, the Scum have certainly a lot to answer for.
