Terrible and seems to be happening more and more. I remember when I was a kid I used to think "why do footballers never die" and now it's commonplace that 2 or 3 seem to pass away every year.

Dreadful news... Condolences to his family & friends, and supporters of the clubs he represented.
I've often wondered what damage heading a ball can do, especially if you're maybe doing it 20 times a game like a centre back often does.

Every time you do it it's like being punched, your brain rattles around in your head. Good job they use these soft plastic things now though.
