There was a time earlier in the season when City was playing (and playing better) with at least 6 England Internationals on the field, out of:
Hart, Richards, Lescott, SWP, Milner, AJ, Barry and even Bridge.Today we had 3 with a cameo from Milner.
I think the team spirit has been lost and the importance and passion of playing for the shirt is just not there anymore with all the new foreign players that are in now.
Boateng, Kolarov, Balotelli show no passion at all for the team. Dzeko is new and can be excused a little. Yaya looks to be not interested anymore after he showed some great performances, the away game to Fulham being a great example.
However the one who really looks to me that he is just going through the paces is Tevez. Is it because he knows that whatever happens, he wont be here next season ? If that is the case then he really should have gone and since he's still here, maybe he should spend some time on the bench until he gets his passion back or at least work enough to earn his pay cheque.

Veiera who has spent a long time in England and knows what its all about,shows more passion then all of the above put together and that's saying a lot.

At the moment we have a have a group of good to great individuals playing for us but we don't have a team.
And even when Komp and NDJ come back, I don't think it will make a difference if the majority of the team continue playing with no passion and no awareness of what winning a Cup or a top 4 spot means to the Club and to the fans.

I would suggest our most pationate players are tevez, zabaleta, kompany and de jong. Yes, we need passion, but I don't think it's an English thing, just about players with the desire to win.

I agree. No foreign player can EVER understand what it means to play in England. We should ship the lot of them back.

The problem with this "English core" is that England are an ordinary football team who are only made to look half decent by teams from countries of about five million. England are only in FIFA's top 10 because the vast majority of football nations are rubbish. On top of this, our crop of England players are nothing less than ordinary - we have no Gerrards, or even a Lampard. We have Milner... and Lescott.

Hart: Still makes ridiculous mistakes for City.
Richards: Can be magnificent, and can also be really awful.
Lescott: Astonishingly bad most of the time.
SWP: Best days behind him, years ago.
Milner: Workhorse, often out of his depth for City and England.
AJ: Great as a sub, but not reliable as a starter.
Barry: Slow, slow, slow - but probably the most consistent of our England/ex-England players.

If we are wanting an English core we are starting at a pretty low base, if we want to be the best. When we start signing the best players in the world, whatever their nationality, then we will have the best team in England and then Europe.

It is funny that this issue keeps popping up on almost every single football bulletin board I subscribe too.
After a number unfortunate incidents I have followed in Spain, France, Italy, and Scotland, regarding
black Americans players cars being set on fire, racist remarks from teammates and fans;

I have always felt that it would be better for the MLS and U17 US players to try their luck in Latin America and
South America rather than Europe. A number of US coaches and Latino Americans feel the same way,
unfortunate immigration problems and national feelings all around have hurt this national progress. But US internationals
playing in Mexico and Argentina will turn the tide away from European Pro Football. I hope. The US pro clubs need to
start participating in the Copa Libertadores and internationally, the Copa America.

I love City more than any other pro club I follow, but I would like to see a golden age of pro football in the US before
I kick off. And if the next Tim Howard, Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride, Jermaine Jones, Giuseppe Rossi, Michael Bradley,
Claudio Reyna all go south; it may quickly improve the quality of coaching and amount of latin talent that plays here.

I believe that is where the future of North American football lies, south of the border, not an Atlantic Ocean away.

I have nothing against European clubs, just feel American football is better served staying local.

It was so much more prudent back then because they all pretty much sucked. Hate to tell you this mate, there are very few perfect players. Each and every one you slagged off above is better than anyone we had 5 years ago, even when in poor form. And with the exception of SWP becaue of his age, and Lescott because his form has been bad since he moved here, I disagree with everything negative you say - at least in the dire sense you are saying it. Surely you don't think Hart more than makes up for his mistakes (oh and this just in ALL keepers make mistakes... remember EVS v Newcastle earlier this season?). Try and be happy with what we have, we have (we most of us) seen this much talent on our side in our lifetime, yet people just choose to focus on the negative. Getting old FAST.

In fairness are you just saying England has lousy players? Don't you find some badge of honor having so many players from your home club playing for your country?
