The man is being ultra conservative with his changes wouldn't you say? There was no need to bring Tevez on last night. Apart from Razaks 3 minutes of glory, the kids haven't really had a look in. Boyata would have got very little out of his run last night either.
Maybe Boyatas red card in the Arse game has affected Mancio.

I think it would have been more productive to have given Dzeko another half hour match time instead of Tevez. Would also have been nice to see Johnson on for Silva after he scored. Round of applause for Silva, followed by a returning round of applause for Johnson.

They are cautious but I can kinda see where he's coming from at the moment. I think Boyata's red against Arsenal hit the lad hard and any similar fuck ups by a kid at this critical point of the season (on three fronts) could properly do damage to their confidence and the opinion that fans have of them.
I'm sure that the likes of Johnson, Boyata, Wabara, Nimely, Guidetti will get a chance at some point. This really is not the season, nor the point in the season to start blooding youngsters tho

Absolutely agree.
Plus this thread is speculation. Who one earth knows who is carrying a knock or a strain from the last game? It could be that Dzeko needs the break, but Tevez not so much. Besides bringing on Tevez at that point certainly gives the oppo something to think about and halted any chance of a late-game flop a la Wolves.
You cant critcise subs if you dont know the background.

I have no problem with the Tevez and Boyatta subs as it made sense. Resting Balo and Micah. However I would've like to see MJ coming on for Yaya (like for like) instead of Jo who added nothing and has been given his chances (and hasn't taken them).

Completely agree with this. If Jonno was ready for a run out then it would have been great to see him. The match was never going to be lost in that area of the pitch so it was not going to be the wrong decision, difficult to know what circumstances Jonno was going to get a game if that wasn't it.

I reckon Mario came off because he had the yellow and Bobby didn't want to risk another red. Must say I think Johnson should have been given a run instead of the waste of space Jo

Nothing wrong with the subs really but I do think he missed a bit of a pr trick with not giving MJ 10 minutes. The crowd would have loved it and it didnt matter for the match.

Thought Jo looked very lively when he came on tbf. If he could put that extra 20% of effort in from starting games he'd have a chance. Unfortunately I doubt he's got more than 10 mins of it in him. Crowd did their best to give him a boost though. Comedy or not, it's better to cheer him than moan at him.
I think Bob was just getting the job done last night. There was always a slight chance Ashley Young & Downing could have caused a few problems & a couple of late goals by Villa would have been bad for morale. Best to keep focused imo, from now until May.

The Notts County game was an ideal opportunity to bring someone on at 3-0. If you check the match thread at 3-0 we are all pleading for subs to be made.
We've had a few games won by 70 minutes and a bit of enthusiasm would have been ideal for spreading the load.
I've no problem with the Jo sub as it rested a starter. In fact, he could have come on for Balo.

the tevez sub was very much needed at the time, mario was on a yellow and the villa defence had given him sly digs to get him to react,it was 2-0 at the time and a villa goal would have been a disaster, tevez gave us a way better chance and threat of a goal then dzeko would have.

Boyata's red card put paid to any youngsters getting a decent run out this season. Mancini is under too much pressure to succeed especailly in the league this season to go risking games with youngsters.
Next season i don't think he will have any problems in putting on Nimley and Guidetti ect.

We've also had a few games almost thrown away by 70 minutes & 2 or 3 goals up, so I get the cautious approach.

Boyata's Red just proves what a sly , deceptive Cnut Clattenberg is.
To my dying day I'll never accept that Boyata should have been given a Red card for that foul.
I think the kid is brilliant and is going to be Massive for City. Him , Micah, Jerome and Vince. All capable of swapping
across the back four . No F*ckler will score against them in two years time.

Its not just that: Boyata was quite shaky in the next game he got to play; he might have come on as a second-half substitute.
I think it was then that Mancio reealise he needed treating with kid gloves to help rebuild his confidence.
Unfortunately it was a sending off offence.
The only reason a referee might have wanted to show leniency was because the player obviously hadn't settled into the game
But the referee would probably have been subject to sanction, or even demotion, by 'the powers-that-be'

I think Tevez was going to come on as sub for Mario anyway - he was struggling a bit with his knee and Tevez was warming up almost nonstop in the 2nd half.
Would have loved to have seen MJ on for the last 10 mins though.
