GOAL-LINE TESTS GO ON, SNOODS BANNED Click here to follow us on Twitter!

Football's law-makers have decided to continue experiments on goal-line technology for another year.

The International FA Board meeting in Newport also agreed to allow UEFA to use their system of five match officials at the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine next year.

The decision on goal-line technology comes despite 10 systems failing FIFA tests last month.

Football Association general secretary Alex Horne declared himself "fairly satisfied" with the outcome of the meeting.

The IFAB have also announced that snoods - the neck-warmers beloved by Manchester City players - will be banned from July 1.

"The IFAB agreed that in relation to Law 4 - Players' Equipment, the wearing of snoods should not be permitted," FIFA said in a statement.

Horne said: "It's not perfect because we wanted to get the principle of goal-line technology adopted.

"Given where we were last year when it got thrown out that was my worst fear that it would happen again.

"My preferred position was we accept the principle and wait for the technology to prove itself. We are now in the position where they want to look at the technology in different environments and then we will make a decision in March next year.

"That's why next year's meeting will be so important."

Is it paranoia if you're right and they are out to get you?

When Law 4 was first codified, snoods weren't even imagined, let alone thought of. On that basis, such interpretation of this law, in this instance, might be challengeable in Court.

Similarly, if anyone were daft enough and wanted a bit of fun, the FA 's ruling might be challenged under the Human Rights Convention i.e.

Article 10 Freedom of Expression
Article 14 Discrimination
Article 17 Abuse of Rights

Any such challenges might be deemed to be frivolous but it would highlight the inane nature of the FA's time wasting and irrelevant action. You never know but Messrs. Platini and Septic Splatter might see fit to stick their noses in and side with the players against our FA ??

No, Ted, not that. You're just trying to make out I'm old fashioned.

They're talking about bringing back inflatables on BM so no doubt clubs with inflatables will be barred from competing in the Champion's Lg.

Well, John, when my old dad (92) finally moved into my sister's house last week, in one of the boxes they found an air-raid warden's rattle that he used to take to Maine Road. They're taking him to the Reading game so watch out for him waving it around when City score.

Had any Man U players wore snoods prior to any of our players popularising them?

LAW 4 – THE PLAYERS’ EQUIPMENT
Safety
A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous to himself or another player (including any kind of jewellery).

Basic Equipment
The basic compulsory equipment of a player comprises the following separate items:
• a jersey or shirt with sleeves – if undergarments are worn, the colour of the sleeve must be the same main colour as the sleeve of the jersey or shirt.
• shorts – if undershorts are worn, they must be of the same main colour as the shorts
• stockings
• shinguards
• footwear

Shinguards
• are covered entirely by the stockings
• are made of rubber, plastic or a similar suitable material
• provide a reasonable degree of protection

Colours
• The two teams must wear colours that distinguish them from each other and also the referee and the assistant referees
• Each goalkeeper must wear colours that distinguish him from the other players, the referee and the assistant referees

A polo necked vest/sweatshirt (or something similar), in City colours and worn under the shirt itself would do the job and not transcend the FA's precious Law 4.

It's just one more example of the inept FA exhibiting crass stupidity.
