I hope its just me, but Im quite sceptical about this game.

Its gonna be pretty cold in Ukraine, just above zero. Not sure about the state of the pitch...but it cant be too good as winters in Ukraine are pretty harsh.

We all know, Mancini keeps reminding us, that our side doesnt perform too good on fucked up pitches.

Plus, Mancinis record in cup competitions is not great, although, correct me if Im wrong, he and Inter won in Kiev few years ago.

Me thinks that Roberto will be more than satisfied with no goals at all, even with 1:0 defeat.

Most of previews on the internet suggest City is going to win this game.

Not so sure!

A loss by only 1 goal or better will be ok.It's the ideal game for us to play the ball around going nowhere and bore the pants of the Kiev crowd and then hit them when they are asleep. And we have already got the excuse in about the poor pitch.Add that to tiredness and the travel and we are sorted.

I actually feel quite good about this. I fancy us to nick an away goal, Dzeko being favourite, & I fancy us to defy the conditions & Mel Machio's pre match negativity & do a nice controlled job. (Apart from a cuple of flappy defensive moments for no reason)

This can't be the official match thread as it's not using the new politically correct spelling of Kyiv which mcfc.co.uk likes to use :-p

10pm in kiev - as i said when i started this thread.... madness. why not have this one kick off at 8pm kiev time, i.e. 6pm UK and then have the return leg at eastlands kick off at 8pm rather than 6?!

Probably designed to follow the other game on tv this time & start before it next time; scousers perhaps? They kicked off at 6 at Anfield in the last round I remember. No problem for their fans though, as none of them have anything else they have to do.

'Kiev' is correct, according to Bernard Matthews' Spelling Conventions.

A fixtures tab - that's a good idea! Image

Mind you apparently we haven't played Wigan yet.

Maybe 11 televised games in a row is too much for it? Imagine the revenue!

Київ.

When written like that, it should transliterate to 'Kijiv/Kiyiv'. Bernard Matthews knew his stuff, though, so I'm not going to be swayed too quickly.
